ill post this first then comment later.

Mike/phatomch is still looking for sponsorship for this, he even put in a steady 3 mile practice walk home from work.
He is happy to sponsor Lee and Kinboshi for a £10 a piece if they will repay the favour.

The costume has been finalised

He walked 40 miles?  I'm sorry, but I don't believe it.

What do you mean by "stint" though?

Wow!! This is an amazing achievement.

I did about 4 miles this afternoon with my friend and our dogs and because of the 25 degree heat it took nearly 2 hours. We usually do 6 to 8 miles and are obviously reasonably used to walking but we had to cut it short because of the conditions.

I can't begin to imagine how I could've done this 10 times over!!

Couldn't have picked a tougher day to walk nearly 40 miles!!

To do it in 14 hours is almost beyond belief!! Truly well played.

How many Wetherspoons were on the route? Did they stay for long at each one?

Well I'm not going to call you a liar, but I'm reasonably fit and I frequently walk long distances, and I couldn't do it.

Couldn't have stayed at (m)any for long at all, as he was doing 22min/mile pace as an average for the day and that's not a bad walking pace.  Add in a few stops (which you'd have to for loo breaks, drinks, picking up food etc., and that means the actual average pace would have been a lot faster.

he done it in 14hrs 37mins, started at andover spoons then to winchester, eastleigh, shirley (southampton), lodon road (southampton), ocean village (southampton) and high street (southampton).

Stayed in winchester for a hour as he led  the pack and had to wait for the back of the pack, eastleigh for 20 minutes, shirley for 20, london road for 10, ocean village 15 and finished at the high street.

A big factor was his brother also did it and helped set a fast steady pace. No powders involved.

Photos of him at first few pubs to follow, when he has them from people who took them.

mike said, im sure you could if you had a brother pushing you physically and mentally and with the thought of doing it for a charity and your word that you will do it driving you. He's a big guy but has stamina, long distance walking is about having the correct equipment and the mental ability to just keep going regardless
