After logging onto user, i usually have to enter password, this has not happened.
Where password box usually appears, 3 messages appear

1st.  SonicSelector Download engine system error &H800706BA (-214702314)

2nd. RegisterClassObjects failed; hRes=Ox800706BA the RPC server is unavailable maximum retry attempts exceeded

3rd. McAffee Virus scan seems to have run out of resources or Memory is too low

HELP PLEASE!!!!

It has plenty of memory left, I cannot open half my programs (nothing happens at all)
No Volume, and hardly any functions.
Cannot system restore as it says i need to restart and try again, still does not let me restore.
Wits end and I am not a techy, can any techies help?

Ironic thing is that I can still get onto poker sites and Blonde

I have a feeling my security centre is due to expire soon, but i cannot open it to find out, some icons are missing from my task bar.

BOO HOO Any ideas??

Try turning the 'puter on and tapping F8, a menu will pop up and select start last known good configuration (or something like that).

The F8 thing should give you a menu with several options, one should be "start last known good configuration".
Didn't you get this?

Heid, that ctrl shift didnt do anything it went str8 into windows

IFM pressed f8 gave me three options
select boot drive
1. hard disk
2 jlms xj-hd166s
3 realtek boot agent

pressed hard drive and got 2 more options

pm st3160021A
bootable add in cards

pressed the first one

No joy, the comp is 1 year  and 1 day old apparently when mrs used it at about 3am nothing came up apart from found new hard ware, the old printer, scanner etc., no task bar and all the above warnings.
given up on security centre as that must have ran out earlier today, but i just cant seem to wipe anything off and start from scratch!! cheers for helping, anymore suggestions?

Second one is your dvd drive, 3rd is your network card i believe.
Right then, reboot and tap esc, then press F1 when prompted.
You should then go into the Bios software, look for an option to disable LAN and save changes and exit.
