It's a shock, but Eddie has got AJ advertising just about anything.

I was in N.Y. last week and his face was everywhere, not just fight stuff, but health foods, trainers etc. Feels like the ego has been massaged a little too much and he needs to get back to basics.

The saddest thing about last night is I’ll now never get the opportunity to empty the clip on Fury at odds against v AJ

Joshua now really starting to sound like Frank Bruno in post-match interviews as well as boxing like him in the ring.

Know what I mean Harry heh heh heh.

Has every Joshua opponent been a bum ?

I don't watch boxing much but just watched a replay of this fight and he showed nothing that would make you think he was a world champ

Not all bums as such but take an old Wlad out of there and it’s not the strongest CV. That’s largely due to the lack of depth in the heavyweight division though. His performances post Wlad have also had question marks over them. Struggled to get Takam out of there, Povetkin had his moments etc. That said he should have been more than capable of getting Ruiz out of there. I suspect complacency played a part in the defeat though, as in now way this fat chump is beating me. Really really tough to come back from a loss like that as a heavyweight. Only the really great fighters are able to do it.

I would have backed Fury as well, more because I'd feel stupid to go against anything you're max betting  Cheesy

Playing devil's advocate.

Did Vlad really age that much in 18 months?

Didn't he break his nose in the 2nd against Takam.

Looking at his fights, it seems that when he gets hit he loses the rag and that's what happens. Will either be the best thing that ever happens to him, or he'll be done after the rematch.

Hopefully he wins the rematch, and then we'll get to see them all ruck Smiley

Thanks, I guess you can only beat what is there and he's done well to avoid Fury.

I used to enjoy heavyweight boxing from the 70s to the 90s or so and these guys were sad shadows of what the division used to be I think.

18-20 stone, so they can definitely bang a bit Cheesy

Looked like he caught a couple right in the temple, and never recovered.

On replay with comms off it looks like a small man walking down a bigger man. Ruiz hasn't taken a backward step through 2. Joshua's feet are constantly circling in reverse, something we've never seen before.

Cut to Joshua's corner end of round 1 and he was breathing heavy. Lot's of emphasis on straight shots and don't jump in with the hooks just yet.

Cut to Ruiz's corner at the end of round 2 and he is casual as anything.  Many Robles "And he felt it, he felt that (inaudible). See how you eliminate the counter by doubling up on your jab."

The rematch will be fun as that was no fluke. Ruiz's steady pressure denied Joshua a second wind. It's just as well given the obligatory pro Joshua cards:

Yeah just rewatched it myself. AJ looked pretty clueless in there. Ruiz game plan worked to perfection. Whether AJ wasn’t 100% or cut corners then only him and his camp really know but that was a convincing.

Wlad was 41 coming off a fairly convincing loss, bound to be a fair bit of regression at that age.

You can excuse the Takam performance i guess.

One thing that’s definitely apparent is his power at the top level isn’t all that. He simply doesn’t have the power to lay men out with one shot (hence why I ended up doing my bollocks backing him to win by TKO). He’s been able to wear down decent opponents and get stoppages in the second half of fights due to cumulative effect.
