I think it's probably OK to say 'I once had a bad experience with a group of people from the travelling community, which was.... etc...'.

Yes thank , i should have worded it like you have. I absolutely did not want to imply that i HATE all gypsies because like you say I've probably met less than 1% of UK gypsies. But of the hundreds that i have come across i would say that over 90% of them i disliked.

It is Tom's request (or was) that such posts stay up for him to respond to. It's not a mod decision to keep them up without his input first

The same cannot be said to apply to homophobic posts, where gay mods would not necessarily request as Tom has done

I agree that good discussions can originate from tricky posts. But I don't understand why individual mods should be able to select which tricky topics remain up for discussion based on whether the subject is personal to them. And similarly take other tricky subjects down that they have little interest in. A racist post can offend anybody whether they are from that race or not. And anybody may want to contribute to tricky subjects even though they are not personally involved. Not having a pop at mods it's just I like equality. Breaks my heart when I hear a smashedagain post has been deleted without reading it.
