I wouldn't be able to respond in the same way Red does if people were making such sweeping statements about Greeks.

I do understand why people make so many misconceptions about Gypsies, as I was guilty of that before I met Red and read a lot of his posts and asked him questions but some of the things that are being said are just absolutely WTF.

I appreciate what Mr Red is trying to do by asking for the posts to be left up.
It is very commendable that he tries to have a reasonable discussion with people who might have said something unfortunate about Gypsies.
He is nothing if not an educator by heart (And a very patient man)

I do, however, think that there is no point in arguing a point with someone who clearly has their mind made up already.

It's the same as me saying that all Jews are scum. Sure Kab and Snatty (if he ever actually posted again!!) could try to discuss it with me and explain why I would be incorrect in my statement but there would be very little point as my statement would already have made it clear that I have made my tiny and bigotted mind up.

The thread would then only escalate and nothing good would come out of it.

A lot of good would come out of it because there are vast swathes of neutrals and floaters that such debates would have an impression on.

I didn't think what the guy said was that bad tbh, just expressing a view. I'm sure there are groups out there that you don't like either. FWIW its not specifically this issue I'm talking about, but just more of a general thing across the forum about the same crew jumping on someone every time they say something they don't like.

Some people in this world aren't very tolerant of others, that's just the way it is. But I don't see why they should have less of a say than others tbh. It's not right if the moral brigade on here get to say what is right and wrong is it?

Well his view is that he doesn't like a whole community and labels them all because of his dealings with people from that community, which is what most racism stems from imo. The only groups I dislike are those who belong to a group that all wish to represent the same thing that I disagree with, such as Nazi's. Other than that I'm not stupid enough to think that an extremely small minority of people I may've had negative dealings with represent a whole community.

As for the forum, who is this crew ? is it not just that some people with similar opinions express a similar point against those who they disagree with ?

Do we really need to debate whether being racist is right or wrong ?

I'd like to think that I rarely judge entire groups by the actions of a select few. However one thing would say is that I have had 3 terrible life experiences at the hands of gypsies, and I could understand why that would change an individuals view of an entire group, but I'd like to think it hasn't done that to me.

As you will ask:

1. Pet dog stolen. The dog meant everything to me aged 9.

2. Had a group "take over" a site I was project manager on, mid meeting. In trying to remove them had a chain and padlock swung at me (with intent) and was punched in the face. [ ] they were prosecuted.

3. Had a group try to move onto my gun club site ! Took great joy in the fact that 30 members were shooting at the time. It only took 1 flat tyre [ ] they came back

I don't judge the entire settled community, although I know some of them are guilty of rape, murder, arson, genocide, torture, treason.....

How can anyone be offended by me saying i dislike gypsies and men who are extremely camp ?

Whats so offensive about that ? I'm being completely truthful .

I admit i don't visit this site on a regular basis , but I'm sure there are posts on here criticising and taking the piss out of some high profile poker players. Would someone posting i hate Phil Hellmuth be deemed offensive and would that warrent a torrent of abuse by the Phil Hellmuth Fan Club ?

Do you not understand the difference between criticising someone from what they do and for discriminating against a race because of what they are?

I dislike gypsies for specific reasons based on my encounters with them over the years . For example , I used to run a business and found then very rude to me , my staff and my customers. They would always try to pay less than the agreed price and often try the " i'm a few quid short " trick. In my local paper shop i would often see gypsie kids trying the same thing with sweets. They turn up in large groups of caravans and set up camp for a week or 2 and then leave it with all their rubbish not properly diisposed of. On occasions i've seen beer bottles and cans thrown into my garden during the time of their stay , however if i'm being truthful it could have been non gypsies. Mine and other residents have had their flowers gardens ruined , again this is only a suspicion that they are done by gypsies. These are some of the reasons why i dislike them , nothing to do with race , infact can anyone distinguish a gypsie from another ordinary white bloke .

In regards to dislikeing men who are overly feminine ,it has nothing to do with the fact they may be gay , infact i have many gay friends and have no problems with them. I just find them pretentious , all that skipping down the street and all that. Those of you who have seen Louis Spence on TV may understand what i mean.Those of you who have jumped down my throat don't say you like Louis Spence because i will not believe you.

I live in the north west of England where there is a lot diversity and i have many friends from all different backgrounds , so calling me a racist is totally wrong.

Oh boy...OK Let me put it this way;

I don't mind Asians, Chinese, Japanese, Russians, Mongolians etc. but hate blacks.

I have friends from loads of different background...just because I hate blacks that doesn't make me a racist, does it?
