Right, I'm back and can now update everyone.
First of all, apologies to everyone waiting for an update and funds. Unfortunately, the end of the league coincided with the start of my busiest period in a new job and I've been flat out preparing various presentations for meetings in London, followed by year-end accounts prep and a budget presentation for a Board meeting, which took place this morning. I've also been preparing a Tribunal Claim which had to be filed in early January. Whatever down time I had around that was spent with the wife and family so, unfortunately, the league admin had to get parked until I had a bit of clear time to work everything out. I realise it's a pain, but that's genuinely what the issue was. Nothing sinister, which I think most of you realised, despite the frustration.
The reason for needing a bit of time to figure things out is that one of the main prizes was for the combined competition in the 2 redraft leagues, which basically required a bit of effort to work out the combined rankings. I expected that it would go to one of the league winners, so needed to get this calculation done to work out the combined payments, rather than doing piecemeal amounts here and there.
I've dug out my post on the prize structures, as a reminder to everyone of what the various comps are:
REDRAFT STRUCTURE BASED ON 2-LEAGUE SYSTEM
As per the above post, the plan is for two leagues to run side-by-side with a normal prize pool competed for 'within league' and a combined side-pool consisting of competitions which everyone can compete in together (and which give an incentive to keep playing through the season).
Based on an unchanged entry fee of £30, £20 will form the league prize pool and the remaining £10 will be used for the combined competitions. The combined competitions will be as follows:
1) Overall best 3-week aggregate score from any weeks of the season (as per last year)
2) Overall 1-week aggregate score (as per last year)
3) Combined 'Breakdown' league (this takes all players in both leagues and does the calculation that you seen in the 'Breakdown' tab on nfl.com - so works out the best team based on all teams playing all other teams in every gameweek). If this can be done across the full season, including play-offs, it will, but this is dependent on every team having a fixture (so no bye weeks in the play-offs for anyone). Failing this, it will be based on regular season results only.
4) Best draft result (this will simply use the season-long totals of the players you drafted, in the highest scoring starting roster available, regardless of how long they stayed on your roster or not)
The leagues, regardless of whether they're 10 or 12 team leagues in the end will pay top 2 post-playoff places on a 75:25 basis (so £180/£60 for 12 teams, £150/50 for 10 teams).
The side comps will pay the following, based on whether we have 20 or 24 players overall:
3 week aggregate comp: £120 (12 team structure) / £100 (10 team)
1 week highest score comp: £36 (12 team) / £30 (10 team)
Breakdown league: £80 (12 team) / £70 (10 team)
Best Draft: £20 (12 team) / £20 (10 team)
The relative sizes of these are to assign the higher prizes towards overall consistency and giving an incentive to stay interested throughout the season. The 3-week comp is highest as I want to have a tangible short-term prize worth competing for (so even if your team when 0-13 in the regular season, you could still theoretically compete for it in the play-off weeks). The biggest issue with any of these leagues is having an inactive manager so this is a way to try an incentivise everyone not to do so.
Hope you like what's proposed. It's been tricky to figure out something for the separate league structure, but this looks to me to be a good way to keep everyone interested in what's going on in both leagues as they run side-by-side.
As I've just discovered, my maths wasn't too hot when I did this, as I managed to find an extra £20 in the side comps totals (we ended up with 10-team leagues so it's those figures that apply). £100+£30+£70+£20=£220. My bad, clearly, and the simplest solution is for me to stand the extra £20, rather than take it away from any of the other prizes so it turns out there was a bit of added value. The best draft bit is the one calculation I still have to complete, which I'll have to finish off tomorrow, but below are the results of everything else and the monies owing from these (apologies for the formatting, but it's doesn't retain column widths when pasted from Excel):

Best Draft (TBC) £20

The big surprise, especially after bobby1 sweeping most of the minor prizes last year, is that no-one has won more than one prize so far. The £20 for Best Draft might change this, but it's proved the point that the side-comps provide an incentive for everyone to stay competitive throughout. sharplea's Week 3 freak of nature score of 201.20 won the single week comp, and got him close in the 3-week competition, but ChipRich just managed to edge out LeKnave with scores achieved in Weeks 1, 7 and 11. MattyHollis was the highest scoring manager overall during the regular season, but that was only enough for a 7-7 record, which failed to get him into the playoffs. However, it was enough to win the overall combined comp across the two leagues with an overall record of 186-80, which was well ahead of LeKnave in 2nd place.
I've had bank details so far from ruud, MattyHollis and Tal, so I'm just about to ship those payments after posting this. If the others could PM me their details (it's possible I've had some of them before, but would rather get them re-confirmed) then I'll fire out the remaining payments across to you.
Once again, sorry to have kept you all waiting. Best Draft result to follow for the 'added prize pool' (as it turns out!)
