Ok

We have now run 12 online Day 1 flights with 67 qualifying for day 2.

We have also run 3 live flights with 45 qualifying for day 2.

If this trend continues we have 12 remaining online flights = 67

We have 7 remaining live flights = 105

Total through to Day 2 would be 284.

Shortfall 216 = overlay €108,000

Even with an expected uplift during the week i am expecting the minimum overlay to be €75,000.

To put this in perspective, to hit the guarantee we would need 350 players each flight at the club with a 50% re entry to break even.

Here are the numbers bought in so far for each one.

Tonight : 20

Monday : 25

Tuesday : 28

Wednesday : 14

Thursday : 25

Friday 12pm : 37

Friday 7pm : 49

This is one event you really should be playing.

Hey Simon.

I'm pleased to see you've started to push the overlay angle on this at last.

I don't think people have really been seeing the huge value this tournament represents.

Hopefully this will drum up a few more runners.

An overlay is inevitable now but hopefully it's not too high for the sake of DTD.

Good luck for next weeks day 1s.

Yes

If the players want us to keep offering these huge guarantees they need to support the events, in the Grand Prix case, if you had any reason for not playing eg regarding the format, how can you not want to share in this massive overlay ? Do me a favour guys and spread the word across your social networks, lets see if we can limit the loss.

Cheers

Whatever happens in the club this week we can't now hit the guarantee, the online sats may do better on Fri than we have projected but i will be delighted if the overlay is less than €50,000.

We really enjoy offering these big guarantees and different formats, there is no doubt that Dusk Till Dawn has helped change the landscape for poker in this country benefitting all players wherever they live as so much has changed since we opened.

Thanks for your support.

Cheers

This is really sad to read and really hope it doesn't do any long term damage to the club. I think the main problem with this was that it was simply a bit too complicated a concept for most people. I know DTD did their best to explain it clearly to everyone, but ive spoken plenty of people who still don't get it. And also even with a simplest of concepts, the 5,000 entry guarantee was a tad on the ambitious side...

I'm sure dtd'll bounce back.

Maybe try one of those Monte Carlo jobbies again, that was good.

Is there any where to see the list of players through to day 2?

Best of luck with reducing the overlay in the next week.

Lets hope you have a massive week

Sometimes you push the boundaries and the risk doesn't pay off. Would hate to see the club affected by an overlay of that size.

To be fair Simon I am not sure it's the players pushing for the massive guarantees.

The players love DTD and are more concerned about its continued success than a large overlay in one or two competitions.

I guess a £100,000 guarantee would have achieved the same level of interest as a £250,000 one and would have limited the potential losses somewhat.

This. If you ask a £50 player which would they prefer, £100k or £250k guarantee then the answer is obv the latter. But ask them which they would play and they'd play both. You basically reach a point where the big numbers start becoming irrelevent and are just potentially causing yourself too much unnecessary damage.

I hope the overlay doesn't end up being a crippling amount. I should be along tomorrow to donate my €60 Smiley

I sincerely hope that this doesn't have any long term affect on the club. I love the fact you're pushing the boundaries but would prefer not to have to go to Gala please, thanks! Smiley

Rest assured I'm pushing it and donating myself (5x so far!)

Cheers Simon.

You should try a "no guarantee" month, see what the difference in numbers are.
