AN INTERESTING WEEKEND!!

Well after the horse won on Friday afternoon I had decided i would play day1b of the Luton £200 deepstack so had arranged to meet Celtic for a meal beforehand, i placed 3 footie bets on Saturday laying Villa and Middlesbrough on betfair and one paid for the other and also a £30 sevenfold on over 2.5 goals unfortunately Crawley could not find a 3rd goal in the last 30 minutes to deny me a £3000 payday but meh so off to Luton it was.

We had a meal with Sicillian, Turny and  Rob Garfield with Celtic lucking out getting the last Rib-eye steak which was amazing considering we were the first diners in the restaurant and the rest of the menu was limited to say the least. I lost the imaginary cc flip with Vinny AGAIN and even gave him receipt enabling him to take his cleaner sorry girlfriend out another time and the comp started..

I managed to chip up to 30k in the first 2 levels from a ss of 25k but in level 3 against the value on the table i repped a really strong hand ott and river unfortunately he could not find a laydown and in the realms of the shortstack we went.
I hung around by jamming a couple of good spots but at 3/600/50 I jammed over an utg raise and a cold flat utg+2 with  from the SB with my 15 bigs and lost the race vs    Angry

A very shallow 1/1 omaha game had started with some players sat with 30-40 and others 60 so I sat with £80 and only played IP and good holdings as they others were really happy to limp call with 2 holdem type hands.  I doubled up when from the bb i flopped top and bottom pair called a small flop bet from the button, turned a flush and straight draw calling the pot bet on the turn and hitting the straight on the river.

It was then a face at the opposite end of the table said "Hi Richard" and i recognised under the cap as Charlie a chap i remembered from old Luton Days...

OLD LUTON DAYS!!

Charlie was an old school grinder from the old Luton Grosvenor Casino in the days when the cash games consisted of mainly just dealers choice with Shirley/Charlie/Paul Alterman and a few others, i think he got banned from the Grosvenor casino's as i told him i had not seen him for about 7+ years even though i occasionally played at the "G" and he replied that he had never been there but this was not through his choice.

The old Luton Casino was a compact card room and if you ever won either at Poker or on the House games you still had a sweat to see if you could get from the front desk to the Sainsbury's car park via a dark alleyway and past a derelict pub with all your cash and body intact, it was always worth tipping the bouncer a few quid for an escort to your car!!

Around that time a young guy had come onto the scene in Luton, and before you guess it was not Celtic as the young should give it away. JP Kelly used it as his live stomping ground crushing the games for a few years, I am not sure what he is up to now as you never see him there anymore!!!

Anyway i booked half of my £220 buyin back in this Omaha game and bid Vinny, Sicillian and Claw good ruck before leaving for a day by the sea yesterday...
