Say you get pulled over on the motorway clearly speeding what evidence do they need to issue a fixed penalty? I remember before being shown film of myself speeding as police car followed, however last night as soon as the car pulled in behind me i shifted across lanes and came back to the speed limit so is it worth fighting it?

How fast were you going? Is it going to be a £60 and 3 points fine? If so, I'd simply cough up.

They rely on you owning up.
Speeding law appears to be the only one where you're guilty until proven innocent.
A friend of mine once used the "it wasn't me" defence in honour of the great shaggy song and got it through.
Stick to your guns and unless they can prove you did it you're in the clear.

This. Just as long as you don't do anything silly like admitting you were speeding in a post on an internet forum I think you'll be fine.

To issue a fixed penalty they only need to have the opinion that you were speeding. That opinion does not need to be correct to issue a FPN.

Obv I'm way too lazy to challenge it and am just going to take the 3pts and £60 was doing 119 so more than fair. Was more curious in case it happens again as these are lucky points 4, 5 and 6.

You got a FPN for 119 ? The cops evidence must be non existent or you'd be facing a ban. Sandy

Sure a chap of motorway cops a week or 2 back got £300 fine in court plus 3 or 6 month ban for doing 116, copper said 'he was too far over to issue a fpn'.
