I have been to 3 NFL games in the us Miami twice and to watch Miami in San Diego. Going to all 3 was great as a lifelong fins fan, though the atmosphere for the games weren't great as both have not great fan bases for NFL sides.

I have also been to watch a college game this year( Oregon ducks) and that was an amazing atmosphere and experience.

The Rose Bowl game last night was fantastic (and the Fiesta Bowl afterwards sounds pretty special too, although was too late for me to watch it).

I suspect the big college games probably have a better atmosphere than many of the NFL fixtures.  Would definitely like to experience one of them at some point.

We were thinking about doing Raiders vs Bears this year but eventually decided against it. Gonna do a Raiders game next time I'm over there though.

Tighty, you forgot San Fran's other big strength, often under-valued. The kicking game they have.
Andy Lee is the 2nd best punter behind Oakland's Lecher and their field goal kicker super Davey Akers is the best in the league by miles this year!!!
It wins them loads of games.

On the subject of going to games, I've been to Tampa v Dallas last Saturday and Jacksonville v Colts on the Sunday just gone.
The Tampa game was okay but the home fans were crap crying about their coach and team and it was crawling with Dallas fans so the atmosphere was a bit one sided. The Dallas passing game was a joy to watch tho and we had a good night despite it being one sided. With it being the only Saturday night game of the season the pre game show and fireworks were amazing.

I enjoyed the Jags game more on Sunday. Even tho the team is pretty terrible everyone was having a great time, the tailigaiting/BBQ was a lot of fun and the atmosphere at the game was buzzing. Everyone was just getting hammered and shouting "DREWWWW" everytime MJD ran the ball. And Jags won which made it even better and no one seemed to care that they were shit and Blaine Gabbert was shit which I liked.

One thing I did notice was that at NFL games no one seems to give a shiny about paying £55/60 for a ticket and £5 for a beer, in England people seeth like crazy about tickets for football being £30 and beers being £3.
Suppose there are a lot more games and the games are shorter but it still surprised me a bit no one was ever moaning about paying $8/$9 for a bottle of beer.

With one very obvious exception, Alex Smith the QB, they hit on a lot of really good players. This is a skill, as not every team does this

So, eventually, assuming reasonably sensible coaching, the NFL is cyclical for most teams (exceptions would be say Cleveland on the downside, and the likes of the Patriots on the upside where exceptional players and coaches mean they can buck the cycle for a long time). I mean look at Detriot. Stunk for ever but eventually the cycle turns when you draft Stafford, C Johnson, Suh etc etc

Think it is a bit harsh to even say that Smith was a bad draft choice.  They had to draft a QB that year really and Jason Campbell and Charlie Frye were the next two that went.  As you say he is serviceable QB and if they had ditched him after three years or so they wouldn't be where they are now as they would still be blooding a new college prospect with no guarantees.  Not sure the Lions success can be put down to the cycle as such.   Matthew Millen managed to screw up drafts for years there (he did draft Johnson to be fair) and it is only since Schwartz came in they have shown any promise.  The Dolphins have also shown how important a decent front office is by consistently making bad draft decisions.  Suppose what I am saying is that the cycle is only applicable if you have the coaching and front office to take advantage.  We will only ever get true parity in the nfl when they introduce a draft for GM's!!!

On a totally different note I like Michigan in tonights Sugar Bowl -2.5 5/6.  VTech kicker has been sent home after violating a curfew and the original kicker got arrested last week so now the kickoff guy is now taking their kicks and has missed both of his attempts this year.

big lumps on denver under 34.5.... teebow cant throw to save his life and up against the number one defense..medenhall steelers star running back out for the season as of last week with a  torn ACl and big ben is still hobbling on his bad ankle.. pittsburgh to win an ugly low scorer... another lump on the giants at -3.0.... there pass rush led by Pierre Paul has grown to fearsome status and as the falcons are having a lot of trouble running the ball will force Ryan to throw more..expect him to be extending plays outside the pocket as he runs for his life... Cruz at wide out for NYG has big play explosion and the Giants have even managed to start running the ball. Close but with the home crowd expect Eli to bring a close one home.

Still deciding the best bet for the New Orleans match as it will undoubtedly turn into a shootout with both quarterbacks able to hit hard and fast. Brees for the Saints almost unplayable at the moment as he shatters all time passing records every week and protected by one of the best O lines in the league with 3 of them going to the Pro Bowl. At home in the dome in perfect conditions Brees will pull the lions apart...  money line on total points is already 59 although a few weeks ago the same matchup only produced 48.. however this could fast develop into a bloodbath especially if the Lions ( as expected ) are chasing.
Another decent bet maybe the money line on Saints -10.5 as they have outscored the last 5 or so opponents by around 15.....

Denver plus 9 v Pittsburgh for me. I think both teams could put up under 20 here. Away at Denver is a horrid place to go in the play offs with the thin air already costing the Steelers Ryan Clark who they have decided not to risk after he was taken very ill there the last time they played in Denver. Away teams regularly run out of steam the longer the games go there.

One of my favourite angles is taking good running teams getting good starts, especially at home and Denver will stick to running the ball an awful lot which can take chunks off the clock even if long drives don't put many points on the board.

If it all goes wrong and Pittsburgh take a good lead and force Denver to pass then with nine start you can still find a back door cover to escape, Denver have managed that plenty of times too.

yeah, Cinci +4 (10/11) defo the line i like. Not been impressed by TJ Yates since hes taken over and hopefully Cinci can stop Houston running game.
