Realised i didn't really do a comp report for my third tournament played on the stake, bar of crse moaning about being card dead.
Tbh it wasn't that interesting a comp play wise, standard as usual was atrocious so all good.
Thought i'd talk about some of the characters i've met so far on my tables. Can't sleep right now.
At the weekend i had one middle aged fella telling me how much he rated my game b4 seeking me out on tuesday and asking 4 my email add so he can ask me about hands-lol, then i had another old timer giving me cough sweets aplenty today whilst telling me my cold would go away eventually. I wasn't even that worried about it tbh till he kept going on about pharamacys i could use or doctors i could see, a mild cold i have not the plague! He seemed to actually care though which i guesss is nice if a little ott. A rather camp man told me i had lovely sunglasses too, they got put back in the bag swiftly.
My first table today housed some characters, Seat 1 was a woman who would never fold her blind for anyone and butch n fierce would be an apt description, seat 2 was a guy who kept praising butch while playing face up poker, seat 3 had a man who literally had the biggest tell ive ever seen and then there was old toothpick in 4. This timer literally nvr said a single word whilst chewing away on his pick that looked half stuck in his beard. Seat 5 was an abso marble case if ever ive seen one, intense to the point of being scary he limped with aces and got them cracked, and when he donk called an all in with kings on an ace high board whilst munching a burger rather scarily i thought i'd entered the twighlight zone. Burger marble man was replaced by a man who commented on every hand whilst telling some of the worst jokes i have ever heard in my life, seat 6 had a decent net guy as did 7, cant remb 8 and seat 9 was mr cough sweet salesman, oh and i was 10 and obv totally normal.
Never dull.

I know it will be a pure guess, but do you see these numbers declining further next week? Have to say, I had assumed much larger fields.
The numbers for Events 1 through 3 make no sense to me. Is everyone going home?
Event 1 751 runners
Event 2 197 runners
Event 3 117 runners
Event 4 (Omaha) 103 runners.
Thanks for not correcting my spelling of disappointment tikay, i always have trouble with such words-dunce i know-abso murdered it!
As for the numbers the first event was spread over 2 days-and numbers were v good, and since then i really feel we've suffered from a halloween hangover. However, i do feel something is missing in the air this year, almost a general feeling of ppl being broke or something like that, i dunno i can't put my finger on it. Hopefully they should pick up in the next few days, i doubt they'll get any worse, the nightly comps are getting very healthy numbers.
dont worry me gavin and tikay will be there soon..they will queue round the block for that value

Those numbers are surprising.
The last few years in November the early $350's were all making well over 300 runners and the $550's over 200.

It sounds as though Howard Plant is in town.

I'm a bit miffed about it, to be honest Ralph, I booked on the assumption that those would be the sort of field sizes. I guess it is what it is now, but if the numbers fell further, then I'd just have to switch to Omaha cash, & invade LilDave's territory.

I guess we all know someone who fits this description. It made me think of Luton's Trevor Webber.

I wldnt worry 2 much, i'm pretty sure that the caesars festival has been taking around 100+ of potential venetian entries away on a daily basis. By next week that will be finished and hopefully we will be getting the 300+ numbers.

Just been looking back at last year's numbers and they varied massively. Anywhere between 150-450. As long as 200+ all good imo.

I think the ceasers comps have been much higher numbers than expected, the $120's and 240's got tlike 400 runners for one i think....
I think Vegas has a fair few less "grinders" in it this year, prolly cos of BF, but i think it'll be still great value just for smaller money.

Meh busted today's comp just now reas early into level 7. Pretty tilting day, not my best work, although losing the world with aces aip dsnt help.
Sat down to my table to see an assortment of ppl, some young, some old, some good, some terrible-usual day.
A key hand occurred in level one when i open raised the button with q9. Bb peeled-guy had recently doubled up after a usual vegas suck out-when he 'classily' fist pumped in2 his poor oppo's face, already not a fave of mine.
Flop came ace high so i cbet and he called, two other cards were baby ones like 36, all rainbow. Turn was a queen and he checked and i bet again, he called.
River came a ten and i bet for value hoping to be called by stubbornly played middle pair/and gs hands-like 65, j10,k10 etc, i didn't put him on an ace if only for his speed of the chk/calls-bad read obv.
Anyway i'd valued myself because when i announced queen he snap called saying...and i quote...u prob have a8 don't you....he then declared ace rag without showing.
I flashed my queen while the twit slow rolled me, demanding to see my other card b4 he turned his over, i had to call him a little bitch-my bad i know- and the jobsworth dealer took great delight in reproaching me.
After this i went on a heater and climbed up to 30k without much incident, table was super weak bar one shark who had position and whom i largely was staying away from.
Last hand of the re-entry level a nasty hand drops me down to 8k-although 40bbs. Raise from half decent young pro oop, peeled by cods galore and now me in the bb with aces. I 'squeeze' and young pro peels-then one shortie jams and i peel that too to trap young pro who instantly jams his jacks, shortie has j9-well guess it is a re-entry. The 40k pot at 1-200 goes the way of mr jacks who hits runner runner flush after i'd flopped my set.
Anyway enough of bad beat whinging, i climb back to like 18k at 150-300 when mr spazz slow roller takes most of my stack-i can only apologise for this spew. I raise 77 oop to 625-my image is terrible- old guy peels and slow rolling spazz ojams like 11k. I obv gotta fold now but decide that he's obv got ak and cannot play it for toffee and i wldnt discount random spazzes either-he's done this move b4. Anyway i level myself into the jacks and am bowling on 20ish bbs. Was an atrocious dynamic call v a tard which i don't need 2 make-i apologise for this one unreservedly. 35xish with 77-meh meh meh dom.
Table move instantly gets me a dble up and i bowl along on 20-30bbs for ages, but the blinds are starting to hurt so i 3b jam a stacked young kid's coff open with q9s and 17x from the button, his ak wins with a flush while i river the straight for the rub.
Like i say not my best performance, maybe we'll save that for the 1k tmrw....

May go see how dave is doing in a sec, feeling better already and can't wait 4 chipppppppppppppps n poker.
I've adjusted the schedule so that the 5'ths comp is now also omitted.
