Man Wins Poker Tournament.

So what? Happens every day of the year. Everyone has their day, right?

Well in my opinion 2011 saw something just a little special, and especially for blonde, when CambridgeAlex won the Summer DTD Monte Carlo, beating 251 others, including Matt Perrins Heads Up, to win £77,000 and change

On January 5th this year Alex started his diary on blonde

The first paragrah read as follows

"I hope this will be an interesting read and that it’ll offer something different to the already buoyant market for diaries as I don’t think there’s many entirely live players on here so that might provide something different. It'll be about a poshboy from cambridge trying to make it as a live pro living in the heart of gangsta nottingham"

Nearly 6,000 posts and 140,000 views later and we've been taken through 2011 with Alex. Of course the Monte Carlo win set him up but in that diary we have the highs and the lows of the poker year, bad months included all written with refreshing honesty.

A compelling read, and job done by the terms of reference of that first paragraph.

Accompanying his story are a cast of characters, many of whom are featured in the photo above, who in my opinion are one of the main reasons Alex has become increasingly successful. As well as the entertainment that the stories have provided us, they are quite a support network I think, and interesting to see the group become closer through the year.

I'd wager that there is another major win from someone in there pretty soon.

Eso Kral

Eso - Richard Blacklock - has become a fixture on blonde during 2011, and indeed started one of the more eye-opening diaries on here in mid August

The diary is a real study in contrasts. Here we have a devoted family man, a professional man (well, an estate agent) talking about his gambling and degenerate tales mostly past and occasionally present, meaning that as a reader opening up the diary you are never quite sure what you are going to get.

Richard's impact on blonde has been felt in a variety of ways. All those who have followed his tips, notably on Kiss a Prince and Sirius Prospect, will be nicely up.  I know also I have followed vicariously the spin up attempts featured on the Betting Tips board, and most weekends the "both teams to score" accumulators that have paid off several times.

Furthermore Richard has been an unfailing and generous contributor to the live updates each month.

I was reminded by him on Friday that he first featured on the blonde live updates in December 2010. He made the DTD Deepstack final, and did a 400,000 stack in with 9-3 off. I was also reminded of the choice phrases I used to describe the spew. Oops.

From what I can tell, 2011 sees Poker end on a high for Richard with his recent Friday win at Luton.
