Lol, don't tempt me, I'm on a R & R weekend, trying to have a bit of a rest!
I'm off for a power nap now, will see how I feel when I awake. Problem is, after an afternoon nap, I tend to wake up a bit grumpy. Still, I'm on the right thread.

You're right that you can't please all the people all the time George. Good luck trying to get numbers to a level that everyone is happy with

George
I have a lot of time for you and your far and away the most sensible card room leader for some time.... I don't think you needed to go to this level..tripling stacks shortening clocks ripping levels out is akin to changing a cars engine because spark plug 3 isn't working..the adjustments needed to be more subtle.
maybe just make one of the tourneys with this new structure ..not all in one fell swoop... baby steps please not blunt instruments across the back of the head..
The comps were pretty much there id like to know know who these people who requested 30,40,50k starting stacks are because Ive never heard anyone ever say this ..you can balance structure and clocks without handing out ridic amount of chips... creating 20 k pots level one is not akin to tournament poker and does not help players when they move up levels to be presented with stacks and clocks that don't bear any relation to what they are used to with bet sizing move points etc...
i will play in the coming week but.....

Ceteris Paribus, can someone explain the difference between a comp with 15k starting 25/50 and a comp with 30k and starting 50/100 ? The only difference I could think of was that it forced the nice new chips out of play and got the old bad ones back out!

Please explain what was so wrong with the old set up that it needed such draconian changes ?

Nothing
What I was trying to understand was whether it was all other things being equal
50-100, 100-200, 200-400, 400-800 with 30k is what I gather were the first four levels last night, so that is a different structure to previously which had (yes the last time I played was a while ago) 25-50 50-100 100-200 (150-300) 200-400 300-600 400-800 with 8-10k, so its not ceteris paribus
To put the counter side, I'm told that at 1-2k last night average stack was 70,000...which of course is pretty decent and George's post gives a lot of meat to the bones as to why the changes have been made

Well it's either change for change's sake and crap chips or it's worse - what it isn't, is better

I meant for simplicity, ignore the other changes and just talk about the double-stack double blinds..
It is ofc very difficult to measure the effect of 1 particular change when 5 changes get made simultaneously.
Even with 30k chips, people were happy in level 1 to get the lot in with top pair + bad kicker. I'm sure if you gave them 60k chips, they still would.

20k double chance tonight.
Have already seen someone open to 800 in level one (25/50).
He enjoyed last nights tournament because "it's exciting when the blinds go up fast."

It's also exciting to play roulette, but that's not poker either...

Let's give everyone a million chips and 5k 10k starting blinds where does it end ? It needs to bear some semblance to standard tourney structures ffs
