What is the point in your post Ade, making such negative pointless posts really doesn't help anybody.

You went to the G on Monday, why didn't you pick up a calender when you was in the building instead of making daft posts.

Wow all I was doing was asking what was on tonight as I was thinking about playing, as with the comet 'if anyone cares', I have asked in the past if some could pls tell me what was going on that night and no one had answered me. What with the games changing at the mo I did't know if it was a £50, £40 or £75 comp that's all, and yes Adrian I was in the g on sat night I had come in to see a friend of mine that was playing that night and he talked me into play (turned out to be a good thing).

As to picking up a list of what's on I'm at work today and only have time for quick turn around when I finsh work and really would not have time to find it and have a look and the web page dose not work ok iPhones

Oh yer and another thing in ref to Adrian's post, yes I have slaged of the new games that have come in on hear but in the time that has lapsed from me posting the comets on hear I have talked to the cardroom mangers about how I fell and how some other people seam to be tacking the change and have had a good resean as to the very big changes explained to me and I fell my points tacken on bord I for one am willing to try and see how the new games play out I do like the g and I wish to keep playing there but I fell that people snapping back at others that have voiced how they fell about things is not needed as it will make people think twice about turning up as for like so many others poker to me is a bit of fun and most of the time a good night out but I'd people are not going to make you fell welcom then why would you go

Loofah’s (last for a long time) Midweek Luoooon G Tourny Report/Appraisal.
Under the premise that you can’t criticise until you’ve tried, the Patmobile headed north up the M1 to try out a ‘Gorgeous George Midweek Megastack’ - Jess was almost heaving onto the front seat      …..     Furballs - or an insightful portent of things to come?

Arriving midway through level 3 (no early chip bonus, no point in being prompt) I was greeted by a four table turnout – 70 last week    …    were the runners already doing a runner (family Drain Alien nowhere to be seen)?

Aha, table 1    ….    And we had some poker players in attendance, and Vinny.

Eso Kraal resplendent in trap 1 (the bemused, nay confused, look on his face did not bode well).

Settling down wide into trap 10, Vincenzo introduced a ‘proper’ Scotchman immediately to my right.

None other than Blonde’s Forth Whistle     ….     Seemed a lovely fellah – couldn’t understand a word he said, and neither could that ‘Plastic Jock’ from Enfield!

Eso Kraal, and myself, formed a Wellingtonian ‘thin red line’ to rebuff the feared ‘Highland Charge’.

Not so much a charge, more of a Stenhousemuir Stroll    …….      Vinny off for a re-entry, double quick time, and a Forth Fold surrendered to Loofah in one of the only pots that produced a bit of three betting  – much to the utter disgust of the assembled, who were refining the art of limp/call/ limp/call/ limp/call/fold for half their stack on the river under the approvingly watchful eye of the Grandmaster Chipstack Preservator, Barrat Allsorts.

Only amusing moment in the entirety of this dire, drab, contest - Eric ‘Gus’ Hansen (he of hand by hand LOUD PHA) getting constantly pwned by some kid of fourteen who repeatedly managed to outdraw him on the river with any two random cards      …..        Gus’ wailing was a joy to be heard – he screeched louder than a baby seal getting a good clubbing.

‘Play’ continued after the break in the same manner, which could only be accurately described as a cross fertilisation of Facebook and Pub League poker.

None of the Randoms were quite sure what to do with all these chips, so they settled into a ‘comfort zone’ of limping, flatting any raise, and folding on the river if they didn’t hit   ….    for up to three-quarters of their starting stack.

And so it continued     …..      ad nauseam.

Onto table 2, and same old, same old.

Having got Ruppinatored by the Wise Old Sage calling all the way to the river with his magnificent raggy Ace, your battered Narrator was left with one 5k chip – the average was about 14 trillion, by whatever level we had reached, somehow.

Losing the will to live, Loofah was desperate to get out of this turgid tournament – so to a raise, and all-in, the white 5k chip was jammed into an eye with Q 5 off.

Naturally – and to my deepest disappointment – Loofah binked a Queen high flush, and was hurled back through the Gates of Purgatory to suffer the insufferable.

A policy of three bet pre, jam the flop, seemed to be working – the Randoms span out of control as Loofah crushed the comfort zone – and a healthy 39k was quickly achieved    ….       even though I would have gladly swapped it for nine hours straight watching The 1981 Walton’s Box Set Xmas Edition, in it’s entirety.

The Final Hand      …..     all folded bar the SB who furnished a pitiful raise to Loof’s BB.

Espying a suited Ace two of shovels before moi, one threw caution to the wind and jammed.

Snap called by A 4 off     ….       there is no God, and your Septic Scribe awaited the split pot in a ‘Waiting for Godot’ stupor.

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssssss – he turned the four and Loofah was granted a ‘merciful release’ quicker than having Harold Shipman as your GP.

Off to Stanley’s for an enjoyable game of cash Omaha went your Author    …..       leaving the zero cash table G to it’s soporific stupor.

Observations;

Numbers down (even two buy-in, Gorgeous George supporting, Celtic said he won’t be playing it again) from 70 to almost half that.

No guarantee, thus producing a piss-poor Prizepool.

Not only ill-thought out and virtually unplayable as a poker tournament, but pretty damn boring too.

Chips/clock/levels just appalling wrong.

I doubt a Parliamentary Committee drawn from all major parties could have engineered a bigger fuck up, if they were given the task of ‘improving’ the Luton Card-room.

The only person I could find that thought it was a ‘good idea’ was Barrat – I think 30k is probably ideal for him      ….     them Aces and Kings take an awful lotta time to fall prostrate in front of Mount Rushmore.

Can anyone remember the last time on a Thursday with no cash table?

Conclusion;

Deffo, no more for me.

I fail to see how in Feb the ‘faster clock’ was introduced, because all these ‘mysterious/anonymous complainers’ were claiming that comps “went on too long” -  and the solution was        ….      triple/quadruple the starting stacks.

Absurd, in the extreme!

I wish you luck George but I’m not putting any more of my ‘hard earned’ into this G experiment.

                                                               ***********

Anyway, two phone-calls already today from G regs     ….      looks like a few are off to Stanley’s tonight.

Apparently there’s some sort of poker tournament on with early chips, a sensible clock/stack, and a guarantee      …..       that sounds familiar!

Oh for the ‘Old Days’ of January/February down at the G      ……
