Found a write up on what will be your 'home' poker room, Tal

I know, I know, but hear me out. I've played at every room on the strip and if you're a low stakes cash game player I truly feel this room is tops.

Here's the rundown:

1) The dealers and managers are fantastic. Efficient, personable, funny and competent. They always make sure the tables are enjoying themselves. It's the kind of room where after the first day they were on a first name basis with me. Unlike some of the bigger rooms you can tell they really appreciate your low stakes business.

2) This is an excellent room for recreational players looking to have a good time. This isn't an intimidating room where you're going to find a lot of grim 20-somethings with headphones and hoodies. Most players are tourists looking to have some fun. And again, the aforementioned personable dealers and management are a big part of the reason why the games are so enjoyable.

3) The rake is 4 dollars with a 1 dollar jackpot drop. That's better than any CET property and near average for MGM properties. With the jackpot there are opportunities for high hand bonuses which don't require you to sit in your seat for several hours.

4) The room is very attractive and comfortable (see below). MC is leagues ahead of other small and mid-sized rooms like MGM, PH or Bally's.

5) Drink service is excellent. I don't think I've ever heard a player complaining that they haven't seen a waitress.

6) Okay, I hesitate to write this because I don't want to ruin it for myself but... the Monte Carlo poker room is fantastic for sharks. Factors 1-5 lead to really soft games. The player population consists of weak tight, calling stations, and gambling LAG-tard players. I'm by no means a great player, but I consistently feel like one of the best players at the table. I've put in significant time at MC and it's pretty rare to have a tough table. I also like for the 1/2 NL game they require a 100 dollar minimum buy-in instead of 60 which means there's always a decent amount of money on the table and keeps short stacking nits away.

Seriously, MC is a great room.

Visited it very briefly last year (stayed next door at aria). Suspect I might have a game or two there this summer.

Never bothered with a reward card before, but as it was a couples holiday with a couple of roulette mad mates decided i would use one.

The three blokes are all 50-100 dollar a spin merchants and we played for several hours each day. Turnover must have been massive all using the same card.

Sometimes it appeared the card was handed across and it just left on the side, but when questioned the floor manager stated it was always recorded etc. add to this the amount of top notch meals we had, I hate to think how much went on it.

When I asked what we had earned I was pleasantly surprised to hear I had jumped from an initial sapphire card to a gold card.

When I asked for details of a comp(was expecting at least a $500 meal) I was told we could get $40 off. The irony was when I went to the poker room where I played about 3 hours a day playing $1/2 I got a $45 comp off the hotel restaurants.

Have I been tucked up or will I see the benefits next time off a higher tier point start, or are they just a waste of time?

From what I understand, it's easier to get stuff knocked off an outstanding debt than it is to get something given to you. Charging stuff to your room leaves plenty of discretion at the end of the trip to knock off meals and so on. I don't really play house games, but this seems to be the views of those I know who do.

It's certainly an area they have got a lot lot tighter on.
At the levels you and your mates were playing I wouldn't have even bothered with the hassle for $40

They are all c**ts and no mistake.

Unfortunately you have to play them at their own game.  If you speak to them now (post trip) they will tell you to come out next time and they will "review your play"  - in other words you aren't getting anything backdated and you aren't going to get any RFB up for next time.

$100/spin for 4hours+ per day should be enough to get a free room just about anywhere.  At mediocre properties, it should get you a limited spend $comp for dinner.  You have to ask them for your #'s (average bet, length of play) often, to make sure they are tracking accurately [tbh, they generally do track accurately, but this is more so they know you know] and then during the middle of the trip. where they have already had decent, prolonged action, you can have an empowered convo with a host, who will realise that if he stiffs you, it will stop any futher action.  They will prolly be a bit tight, but they should be able to reduce some room rates, pick up the tab for some modest bills already charged to the room, etc.  They are obviously careful not to give you an unlimited comp to their high end steakhouse for that evening where you can go mad on the winelist ~ often easier for them to be generous on picking up last night's moderate bill, rather than tomorrow's ludicrous bill.

As always, don't ever play pit games for comps, it never ends well.  But if you are rooming with a $100/spin roulette monster who isn't Vegas-savvy, there's definitely  some mileage in tidying up his host arrangements for him.

Cheers guys.

I have dropped them an email asking for a bit more detail. Feel a bit of a muppet after all these years being mugged off like this but live and learn.

Does seem extraord that can i can get bumped two levels for so little in return.

Plenty of decent non MGM hotels to use in my efforts when planning my next visit to squeeze the Mlife mob!

Create an Mlife online account and on there, it should lay out the amount of comps you have?

Can confirm the spread limit cash games at Monte Carlo were fun, was on list for the one nlhe cash game running but never got seated in 3 hours though, a severe lack of miserable folk (of all ages).

I don't gamble enough to get any comps, however, I  certainly do a fair bit of money in F&B over the course of a trip, and I am going to bang every meal on my room next time.

It might not get me anything, but worth finding out if I can get anything free, even if it's only a scooter Smiley

Have set up an Mlife account and as expected a lot of floor play missed, so emailed them about it. Regardless, the reward for getting through Sapphire and Pearl into Gold should have generated more.

They did discuss a room comp but we had an up front package and so I told them they wouldn't refund me cash before we discussed how many nights I might get back.

I have a sneaky feeling the vast majority of people stay on Tier One throughout their stay and that the money spent this time might buy far more leverage for next time.

Will keep you updated but Markys idea seem good thinking.
