If you're going to be playing a fair bit at Encore & Venetian, then stay at Harrahs.

If you're going to be playing more at Aria/Bellagio, then stay at Flamingo.

Those are about the cheapest strip resorts, which enable you to not kill yourself walking the strip.

What are your dates? I'll have a look for you this afternoon.

Sent you a message, thanks Marky.

I thought "the strip" was a large street with all the hotels on it! So would have been easy enough to walk about the various different venues.

Will be playing some cash/ mtts, again wouldn't have any idea yet.

It is, but it's very hot and the strip is 4 miles long and very busy.

Sigh @ the taxation of mtt winnings, and the hassle getting this money back.

Does this apply to cash games too?

Just had a look on ebookers, and TI @ ~£1680* including direct flight from Gatwick looks to be the best I could see.

*$500 resort fees to be added

That's still not a bad deal, given how expensive even the cheapest places are for those 2 weeks.

You might be able to find something comparable there if you play about

When you visit Vegas, you learn all about "scale".

It is a large street. Very large.

It would take, at a guess, 10 or 15 minutes just to walk from one end of Caesars to the other end.

From the Hotel rooms at The Rio, to the WSOP Cardrooms at the Rio is a 12 minute walk.

It can take 5 minutes simply to cross the road.

And the sidewalks are thronging with people, so you can't walk at a decent clip.

This is about the best offer I've seen for MGM, and I've used it for part of my trip this summer.

Just seen your PM.

It is easy enough to walk between certain casinos.  For instance if you stay at the TI or Harrahs, then you'll have Caesars/Venetian/Wynn all within a reasonable distance.

However it just wouldn't be advisable to head to the MGM or the Aria, and certainly not the Rio.  I once walked from the strip to the Rio as I assumed it looked close.  It took about 40 mins in the heat, was not fun.

Fortunately there is now Uber and Lyft in Vegas.  Rio to the strip is about $8-10 with no tips added (although quite often still expected).

It is possible to stay downtown; they have plenty of 1/2 running and during the WSOP there are a few casinos that hold their own tournament series - these tend to be of the smaller BIs - usually $200-500 with the odd $1k main event. Quite possibly the best value in Vegas and you get to meet some characters.  Even if you stay on the strip, allocate a couple of tournies downtown for the experience as well as a night out there too.  Probably $20-25 Uber.

Cash games there are endless choices and I'd say just enjoy going to the different venues and experiencing it all.  The Rio has a massive room of cash games, where there will be 20/30 1/2 games going, 15/20 2/5 etc but you don't get any player rewards and the rake is higher than usual.

Mirage is often a forgotten room and you will find games full of recreational.

I think that TI last year did some good promotions for 1/2 players but these do attract the nits.  There are a lot of bumhunters that are more nitty than anyone than you'll find online.

Venetian is good obviously and you get comps which can easily be used for food.

Aria is very very busy and the room is fairly small compared to the traffic.

Wynn has a very nice 1/3 that sometimes gets pretty big and wild.

Always remember that if you are in a bad game, either ask to be moved tables or just walk to the nearest other casino.  There's no reason to be in a bad game in Vegas.

Wynn poker room now RIP, all moved to Encore. Guess they still have 1-3 though.

Pound worth only $1.25

Complete nutter in the White House.

Extorionate "resort fee" charged at virtually every hotel.

6 or 7 wizards at every table.

And now this.. http://calvinayre.com/2017/02/15/poker/international-wsop-players-may-tax-issues-itin-rule-changes/

I see absolutely no reason to go to the WSOP this year.
