Was chatting to Cos earlier and he said to speak to Marky147 about Vegas on where to eat etc....So any help from Blondeites on the trip would be helpful, Im going with John Burberry and staying in the Imperial Palace first week, Trump Towers and Wynn 2nd week...I plan to play 6 tournaments in the first 7 days and then 4 in the last 8 days Mainly the Venetian Deepstack but catching one at Caesars palace ($150 turbo deepstack) and the Wynn Fall Classic $300 too!

Sounds like you've got most of the important stuff sorted and it's only the extra curricular activities left to plan.....

If you're around the Venetian/Palazzo/Wynn then you're spoilt for choice food wise whilst there, the only thing I wouldn't do is eat at the IP.... Though saying that, the Burger Palace is ok at 4am when you're blind drunk Cheesy

If you say what kind of restaurants you're looking for along with budget pp and there will always be something suitable at close quarters in Vegas.

IP - don't eat there (in fact, don't stay there...)  some people like Hash House A Go Go there (relatively inexpensive, large portions, 10kcals+ fayre)

Trump - there is nowhere to eat there (apart from Trump's self-named high end restaurant) but you can cross the road, dip into the fashionShow Mall through Nordstroms and it brings you out at California Pizza Kitchen which apart from very tasty (and unusual) topping combos, also offers good pastas, salads and various small plates which are useful when you get tired of pizza& pasta)  There is also a Johnny Rockets (don't do it..) as well as coffee joints and an Italian deli/sarnie bar.  At the other end of the FSM there is a food court if you have a particular hankering for junk and also Stripburger (much better than Rockets, but still not the best in town)  I should point out.. this is all closer to your room than it would be staying in say MGM and popping downstairs...

Wynn - obv no bargains, but all decent stuff.  Be prepared to walk thru the tunnel to Encore also.

For more detail than that, as per Marky - spell out what you are looking for.  Eating as cheap as possible? As tasty as possible?  Particular type of cuisine?

Hi Pete,

Recommended places to eat:

- Grand Lux Cafe in either Venetian or Pallazzo (Pallazzo tends to be quieter)
 - Noodle Asia (next to Venetian cardroom)
**when you buy in to a Venetian Deepstack event you can use your ticket to purchase caps, t-shirts etc. You can also request a $10 food coupon which can be used towards food in the 2 above places (amongst others)**
 - Postrio in St Mark's Square in Venetian
 - Charlie Palmers at the Four Seasons Hotel (south of Mandalay Bay) - they have a cut of the week deal (3 courses and bottomless wine) for $48 per person, which is an absolute bargain and it's very very good.  Menu changes weekly - see http://www.charliepalmer.com/Properties/CPSteak/LasVegas/Menu/
 - Breakfast or lunch in the Terrace Point Cafe in the Wynn (sit outside for views over the Wynn pool)
 - Le Burger Brasserie (between Ballys and Paris indoors)
 - Earl of Sandwich in Miracle Mile Shops!

Excellent happy hours from 3pm Mon-Fri in Pallazzo shops at Table 10 and Double Helix

Have fun!
Michelle

For all those EoS lovers... Look what I found today ( if my phone let's me)

http://db.tt/bDWLaj8V

There are other locations in the us other than vegas for people's info. I was recently in the atlantic city location.

Fwiw anyone thinking that AC might be a good Vegas alternative don't do it! If you want to play poker on the east coast go to Foxwoods.

Would love to go next year for the first time.

Few simple questions first:

Where would be an ok place to play $1/2 cash to find my feet?
Is there such a thing as a beer for under $5?

I like the look of The Orleans hotel from research, am I better off staying on the strip?

Assuming you are talking about 1/3 or 1/2....

It depends. You can walk into mandalay bay and it be empty, then Tropicana and it be a real shortstack fest. That doesn't mean that's how those cardrooms are and to never come back. Next day, 5 drunk rich kids might be in Mandalay and its the best game in town.

Quite simply, if the game you are in isn't great... Move!

To find your feet, enjoy walking round, truly is best to find your own answers.  If you like the casino and sit in a great game, that's your game.  If you don't like the place and the game is rough - get up and find another one.

Beer = $1.  Standard tip (per drink) whilst playing in a casino.  Sit by some cheap sluts slots and play very slowly and order beer, the drink is free, the service isn't.  Or play a table game if you trust yourself to play sensibly and not shovel the lot in when the beer starts to work.  Later on in proper bars etc, beer is going to be > $5 anywhere decent.

Orleans is good value normally, but don't be too quick to narrow it down.  Wait until you know exact dates and then see who is doing an amazing deal.  If you could get the Wynn for less than the Orleans that week, you wouldn't want to stay in the Orleans any more..

Also, for first visit, I'd say stay fairly central on the strip, variety of budget choices to suit all pockets.  It makes it so much easier to explore, Orleans is not really walkable, cabs/shuttles mean apathy usually rules when it comes to doing stuff.

Golf help please ,

A group of 16 of us are in Vegas at the beginning of may 2013,  3/4 are interested in a round of golf or 2. Out of the few of us in the group that have been to Vegas previously none of us are golfers.

Can anyone give some suggestions, pref close/ish to the strip, I've tried the google route but it means nothing to me.

Thanks.

"Close to the Strip" is usually very expensive unless you get comped.  So for any reasonable cost prob about 30mins+ by taxi.  I played Rhodes Ranch last time I was there, it cost about $100 for golf, buggy and club hire.

Here are a couple of sites where you can check out location and prices.
