For solo, I think something like 9 days is perfect (if you can get the pass)

It will feel like a proper week, sometimes it can take a day or 2 to "get straight" after a long flight.  If you are only booked for 5 or 7, you start to feel under pressure to either win $$ quickly or get lots of stuff done in a short space of time.  Having the 9 or 10 dayer means you can get away with a little more downtime and not feel like you had to cram everything into a few days.

I would say April/May or Sept would be a good time to go - plenty warm enough without being overkill.  I'd also start looking in rate calendars and you will already start to see weeks that are pricey (or massive hotspots) and weeks that are low rates.  Then try and tally a sale flight to go with the low rates and that would be the best week to go Smiley  Lots of people decide that they are going "May 12th" for no particular reason, then notice that May 14th is $500/night everywhere due to some event, but it's too late.

I can get the pass no problem......she just doesn't think I will save enough to go.  I'm 40 in 3 yrs time.........it will be done within that time, sooner the better really.  Been looking at random March dates (no reason other than not too hot and rates seem ok) and will be happy to get there, on the strip for under a grand in ok hotel.

Would like to be adventurous and get an internal flight to watch an NFL game in Oakland or San Fran but that's pushing it, and I'll need to go during the season of course.

Still dreaming.

Best option for nearby NFL is San Diego, which is also driveable (about 6hrs or so).

San Fran/Oakland are further away, although San Fran is well worth a visit anyway.

I found San Diego to be a surprisingly great place to spend a few days, the weather year round is the nuts. Qualcomm though is probably one of the most aged stadium in pro sport in the us though both Bay Area teams have aged stadia.

Maybe look into stopping over in an east coast city and getting an internal flight to Vegas? Breaks up the journey and you can spend a couple days somewhere else.

As a general point for people with a bit more time and booking late flying to La then hiring a car to Vegas is often cheaper and funner option in my opinion. Flights are consistently a lot cheaper to la with air nz usually being the cheapest and they are probably the best economy flight experience I have had.

I kinda follow Oakland, so my plan was to do Fri to Mon in San Francisco then on to Vegas for about 5 days.  Then I thought about doing it the other way and staying in Vegas but getting an internal flight for a game then straight back.

Still just a dream.....I will do it one day.

The day the fixtures are announced is the day you book your flights.

It can be done for an evening game.

Just a question with regards to budget.

last year bunch of poker players went and are planning on going same time again next year (end of Jan, middle of feb-ish), but I really want to go. I am just worried with regards to budget, I don't want to take "much more" than I need as I will spend it.

7-10 days they are thinknig about and the last package for them this year was £700 at Planet Hollywood. Seems like a deal to me.

But regards to budget over there? I don't plan on "shopping", just playing poker and a little partying (won't do poker every day). I probably would play cash rather than tourney. Cash would probably be 50/1, 1/1 & 1/2 & perhaps 2/4 max. I was thinking with regards to this, £2k-£2.5k would be suitable, if not too much?

Unless things are going really slow, there isn't much .5/1 in town, in most casinos expect to be playing 1/2 or 1/3, no 2/4 is dealt as 2/5.

Depends how accessible your money is - if you can draw on more if needed, that is useful, but can be quite expensive though if not set up properly in advance.

£200 a day is perfectly fine for regular drinking/partying.  You can have some cheaper nights and some wilder nights probably and keep to that budget.

As for poker, it depends how you are running.  If running bad, you can definitely knock in £200/day.  So if you dusted off £200 on day1, would that change what you did at night time?  Will it be separate poker roll and living roll or will they merge?  If your poker roll dried up on day4, would you be happy to do other things to while away the time?

Ultimately, Vegas is possible on just about any budget.  Let's say you take £2k = $3200.  $1600 for poker = 8 pull-ups in a 1/2 game.  If you win, up to you if you pad the poker roll or spend the winnings partying.  $1600 for f&b/r&r will be ok, you aren't going to be getting bottle service on it, but reasonable meals, a few cabs and drinks should be do-able.  1 main meal and 1 snack is about all you will ever manage in a day anyway.

I have been 2 or 3 times and survived on about $3k for a week.  Thing is if you are knocking your pan in at cash, you can switch to tournies which keep you playing and inexpensive, good back up plan if you are beyond budget! It also keeps you drinking for the cost of tips!  $1/$2 games are achievable in the bad casinos, doubt you will see a 50c $1 table out of the really bad ones. Also just win, then you dont have to worry

Yeah, I've found the usual plan is play a Venetian deepstack in the afternoon for $350, get knocked out, then go and play $1/$2 to win back the tourney entry, and knock in 3 buyins...

Pallazzo is a bit newer, so I'd go with that.  Many would choose Venetian though due to proximity of the cardroom.

Also, link to deal pls?

Are you wanting a swish room /suite or just somewhere to sleep shower and sh**? Id choose Harrah's if the latter and walk to V each day

TI are doing a BOGOF sale atm - that should make it a better room AND cheaper than Harrahs imo.

But for anyone playing Deepstacks, I'd never try and talk them out of staying on property.  If you can get an unbelievable deal 3rd party, ok.  Downside is you can't cancel, and they can't reduce your room to poker rate.

Being able to take an hours kip in your room at dinner break is a nice-to-have.  And anyways, why not stay at a really nice hotel for PremierInn money when the chance arises?
