You've all made brilliant posts. Pat yourselves on the back. I'd like to post too but I don't think it'd be as brilliant as you guys.

Shit post.

Be nice if we all refrained from using the word Spaz or derivatives of it. For me and much of society it's one of those terms that is really quite unaccepted. Similar to retard and some others I can think of.

Apart from that, great diary. I don't think you realize what an opportunity you are being given here by having so many solid players wanting to help your game time and time again. Don't mess that up.

Thanks again to all but Alex (useless post why bother).

On a slightly different note, I just got my feedback from work about my promotion application.
I'll spare you all the details, suffice to say I have to get 6/10 in all the competence areas, however in two of them I got 5.6 and 5.5.
= no promotion.
turns out from the 4 of us applying and the two jobs on offer. The other three all got promotions. Sigh.

The bright side is that they deserve it more than me and that I know exactly what to do next time to get one if I want to (should be a shoe in). We will see how I feel in a couple of months.

Little deflated after this but luckily for me im a winning poker player... Oh wait... Errrr im a handsome healthy young individual...  Errrrr I have a great family, girlfriend and a lot of opportunities - yes that's true.

As usual then... Balls in my court.

Patrick mentioned earlier that you wanted to watch him play NL10/25 or something playing on your account/site.

If you really want, I am happy to flick $100 on Party (need it to get the free $50 PokerStrategy gave me Cheesy)

I will play for a hour or so while you watch me and clear rake needed to cash out.

Let me know if you are interested.

Im willing to bet you will fall asleep watching too. Its going to be me simply folding a lot. Not something you would expect from me!

This is pretty good as a guide for microstakes 6max, definitely worth a watch imo. Not so much the power point presentation bit at the end but in terms of the general approach and the hands in the live play part

Just caught up with this thread. There's not much I can say that hasn't been said already. John you're clearly a smart guy, very passionate, very driven, exactly the kind of guy people want to encourage, advise and assist both mentally and financially. You're lucky to be in this spot, but it can take a while to realise.

Here's my two cents:

Listen to everything Dave has to say. I used to hate everything about the game despite a decent level of passion and commitment, and Dave was genuinely friendly enough to persist and tell me to just keep it simple and stop blaming x, or doing y. I realise I still have a long long long way to go so I don't want to appear too preachy, but what he says about experience is absolutely spot on. If someone like me can come a long way to fixing some huge fundamental leaks in 6 months, then someone like you can do it in 3. The occasional relapse will occur, of course, we're all idiots sometimes. Just make sure you know when you're being an idiot and stop. Smiley

Also, try this for a bit. Being truly honest with yourself, if any portion of your brain says, "this is a risky move," or "this is an unorthadox play," or "maybe I should just peel one more," etc. Just click the fold button. I know Tom Dwan says you can't win if you fold, but you can't lose much either. So if you're winning, playing decent A game stuff for 80% of the time, and then just clicking the fold button when C-Game John Black emerges from the depths, how can you go wrong?

Now start winning.

I wouldn't normally try so hard, but didn't have another opportunity I could wait for. I wasn't ready to surrender what I WANTED SO MUCH, that easily, I couldn't guarantee a call with me staying stoic and relying on a flinch "top pair" calling reflex.
