There is a betting market for The Ashes.  Ground with the most runs.
Cardiff is the outsider of the 5 at 5/1.  Given that the pitch is set up for 5 days, why should this be the outsider?

I am guessing it is weather related and Cardiff gets the most rain.

Urgent - I need some help from our Cricket Sorts.

In 45 minutes, I am booked to interview Shane Warne.

We want the interview to get on Sky Sports, obv.

Throw me some decent questions I can ask him, please.

Should I ask about Mitchell Starc? Anything or anyone else?

Should I ask him how good he thinks Joe Root is?

That's almost exhausted the names I know.

KP question, maybe? Would the Aussies select him in similar circumstances?

Who will the Aussies target in the Ashes, Cook or Root ?

Which spinner should England pick ?

Is Steve Smith the best batsman in the world at the moment ?

Is he available for best man duties ?

Would he vouch for any of the Australian squad ?

Peter,  am not going to copy the whole post, but much of the time there is a match fixing scandal in cricket, "Indian bookmakers" are mentioned.  Whilst it may be illegal, I guesss those that want to bet big find a way.  Having said this, I can't remember ever thinking Force India cars were too short, so guessing this doesn't affect Formula 1.

Of course, it's the same as illegal downloading in the UK - people find a way. It does seriously limit the numbers though.

Plus, it is legal in three states, including my "home" state, Goa Smiley

Nathan Lyon is the Aussie leg spinner.  Sure Warne could give some insight.

You could ask if he thinks Adil Rashid would have played more test matches if he was Australian (he is a Leggie who has had limited opportunities for England despite been the next big thing years and years ago).  He is in the ashes squad at 27.

Weather forecast is good for the Test. This should make the odds slightly smaller if anything.

I don't have any inside info, and these aren't formal recommendations

I have small amounts on two managers to be next Leicester manager

The owners of LCFC are Thai billionaires. Status, PR and perception are very important to them particularly back home.

They want, according to every indication from the local beat, a big name to be the next manager. These are the people that paid Sven a fortune to manage us in the Championship. Sven attracted players, attracted PR but didn't know the division well enough

This desire for a trophy appointment has led them on a pursuit of Hiddink but Hiddink is 68 and is said to lack the appetite for club management. Frankly we're not big enough for him either

Lennon is said to want the job very much, and of course has Leicester connections. He's not a trophy appointment though under their terms but is probably the appointment that most fans would like

O'Neill has always said he wouldn't come back and spoil the legacy of what he achieved first time round

Klopp was backed in yesterday but I am sure he could do better

Steve Cotterill is in the top 5 of the betting. Fan reaction was negative, which isn't a surprise. Cotterill was assistant to Micky Adams when we were up in the top flight in 2003-4. The current director of football and director of football ops were at the club then and are said to regard him highly. How would they persuade these owners though?

So thats the top 5 in the betting. Two global names the owners would like but would be difficult to attract. Two domestic names that you'd have to sell the owners on and a former manager who doesn't want it

It's wide open

the two names under the radar a bit that might fit in terms of name and profile and might be interested

1 Di Matteo. Still has a house in Leamington (from WBA time) left Schalke end of last season, champions league and premier league experience

2 Ranieri. "So far I have not had any contact from Leicester* but if they were to call me then I would be ready to listen to what they had to say," sacked by Greece last autumn, masses of experience in serie a, la liga and the PL

either i think could attract players to the club, neither are such big names that would turn us down, i don't think. They are big enough names to have an international profile that apparently is required

20-1 around about either http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/leicester/next-permanent-manager

then there is this man

He spent last year as first team coach and getting his badges. He is highly regarded for the work he did with Vardy and Ulloa. He took training yesterday on the squad's first day back in pre-season. Whereas Pearson's assistants Shakespeare and Walsh would presumably follow NP to wherever he goes next and have done previously, Phillips is not part of that package

of course he doesn't have the experience, of course he doesn't have the bling manager profile required, but he'd be a continuity appointment if it came to it

He's 33-1

* this is not surprising as, contrary to expectations, this is a manager search from scratch. there was no one lined up and the decision was quite sudden

thoughts welcome
