Morning Tighty.
I know we have a position on Steve Smith for man of the series, but I was surprised to see that 3's is around for him to top score in the 3rd test. I read your article on betpal and you put him up as a bet, and I have to agree. He is the best batsman in the world, and just scored a double century in the last match. His run of 1st innings scores is so impressive. Must be worth £20 do you think? The price is with Coral or Hills.

up to you Hector
caveats would be:
the weather forecast for tomorrow is iffy. Might be conditions to win the toss and bowl, depending on what the pitch looks like
these are precisely the conditions that England think Smith can be got cheaply because his technique is a bit unorthodox against the moving ball
anti-caveats
this also applies to warner though, rogers is still a fitness doubt, clarke isn't in great form, voges doesn't look like a heavy scorer this series so it might not be the strongest heat

3-1 looks a fair price though I agree.
Who plays if Rogers doesn't pass his fitness test? Does Watson get put back in as an opener?

I think we should do it then Tighty. I think his main competition will be Voges or Mitchell Marsh. Surely Australia must realise that Watson has been past it for several years now.
How the shower of @@@@ English bowlers can be confident they will get him out early is just bizarre. They have to go caps in hand to groundsmen to ask them to help them out by preparing helpful pitches !

I was discussing this type of thing at uttox races with a fellow pro punter how these traders would actually deal with these knock backs if they actually had to do them face to face in the betting ring and look you right in the eye man to man and say 'listen son you can only have a fiver on that at 25/1 not £50'. You just never seem to get knocked back in the betting ring at the races (unless you ask for obv bad ew) on bet sizes that with the same firms would offer you a pony instead of a monkey. On course they don't know who you are and, secondly, their ego kicks in and they don't seem to want to have the embarrassment of knocking you back.
BTW on Friday at Uttox there was a layer at the track (can't remember his trading name) but his board said from Derby. He was the spitting image of bookie basher from blonde but wasn't him. Does Jim the bookie have a brother who stands on course? I have never seen this pitch at Uttox before.
Have no brothers and would have laid long odds on somebody being that unfortunate to look like me.
Funnily enough with off course being so bad costs wise I am looking at maybe purchasing a pitch or two.

Fair enough. He had the same accent as you as well. Similar age. Bit smarter dressed! What sort of money do you need nowadays to buy a few pitches? Always been something i have wanted to do as much for the entertainment factor as actually making money.

Not sure although I know prices have started to creep up again. Obviously depends on position but the really good pitches are going to be far too expensive for me , your talking 100k+ for the best number 1 picks at top tracks. Was talking to someone at Dtd last night who has a number of pitches and he has had a good year with good profit margins.
I just need to get out the office , after 30 years , it feels like a prison cell. Buying a pitch at Uttoxeter would be a good first move. Always seems a good crowd there and as long as your not in the last couple of rows of bookmakers it should be decent business.

matched under on the exchange
http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/premier-league/w-o-big-6
stoke, don't need to improve much on last year, lost begovic but have a ready replacement, made a few signings with affelay just coming in. 11/1?
southampton now have to deal with european football, can they match their surprise season again
what people reckon

Well I'd like to oppose all the top 3 at those prices and I think you can make a case for all of the next 5 in the betting.

had the exactly this discussion a fortnight or so ago on here
wanted to oppose the front few. i thought palace at 20-1 in places now, voices around say newcastle, villa
think its far wider a contest than everton/southampton/swansea/stoke anyway

FWIW Stoke was the only one of those near the top that I backed in the handicap. Newcastle looked close to a bet if you assume Carver was absolutely hopeless.

Whatever you do don't bet eachway in this heat given the available terms.
