Northant V Leics today at 2pm, any love for Ben Duckett in the Royal London today? current form is good in all 3 forms, in his 2 50 over games this season he has scored 56 and 69, in his last 5 T20 games he had scores of 40*, 24* and 30 and in his last 6 first class knocks he has scores of 154, 53, 134 and 88.
Fancy him replicating Sam Billings from last season who used this competition to spring into the limelight. Also, the trend in the 50 over county game in England last season was for aggressive middle order batsman to make hay in the batting powerplay and compile some big runs. This continued yesterday in the Kent V Glamorgan game, with Stevens scoring 110 and Cooke scoring 94* both batting number 5. He's batted 7 the 2 previous game, but since the rest have been woeful he could/should get bumped up a few spots. Against a weak Leics attack Duckett could go big at the back end of the innings.
Nowt up on oddschecker, but beteveryday have him at 13/2. Seems more than fair, rec £10

Thanks Nelly.
I know sod all about cricket, but we backed this lad last week, & after Tighty larged him up (with caveats) & as I thought he was quite an interesting character, I researched him & then watched the game, after which I wrote....
I watched that so-called cricket (ugh) last night, as I was keen to get my own view on this Duckett chap. The stage was, as it happens, perfectly set for him. You suggested it might play into his hands, & that was exactly what happened. Off we go then.
He was out for 4. He should have been out for a duck, after a remarkable mix up between two fielders resulted in a dolly catch falling harmlessly to ground between two fielders just yards apart. After YOU Sir.
Everything was perfectly teed up for him to shine, but he gave two ridiculous chances in the space of minutes.
I was left with the impression that young Mr Duckett is a potentially wasted talent, who needs to learn a bit of application goes a long way. I hope he sorts himself out, cricket - even silly cricket - needs these colourful sorts.
I just got the impression he never applied himself. No idea how he has done since then though.
Ignore my naïve musings, just wanted to contribute.

OK. Just wanted to demonstrate my deep insight into silly cricket.

Yeh, I saw that. Since that fateful day he's batted twice, 69 and 56. The 56 was when he came in at 27/5 chasing 343, so was just a bit of a slog for him. The 69 was a better knock, again they were struggling at 84-5 chasing 313 and him and Levi (the opener) put on 125 in an ultimately losing cause, but showed some application and a bit of fight. Kid's clearly got talent, just needs to learn how to get the best out of it. To go with those scores I listed he batted 4 more times, getting 4, 0, 5 and 6, so he is vulnerable early doors. This comp does seem to suit the middle order batsman, in limited overs games I rarely look beyond the top 3 but a batsman plundering runs during the batting powerplay onwards seems to cop pretty frequently. Possibly due to our county bowlers being decent with the new ball but lacking the "death overs" skills.

No view on the horses involved but this looks a good spot for someone to suggest some each way bets tomorrow.
http://www.oddschecker.com/horse-racing/2015-07-29-goodwood/14:35/winner
Highland Reel is the drifting 9/4 fav AOB has pulled 3 horses out this week from Goodwood which indicates a possible/probable issue with the yard.
The fact this is still running can be taken either way but it is hard to view it as being more likely to be a positive.
The bottom four probably outclassed, leaves five to choose from with the 3 places and quarter odds available and the fav having a possibility of bombing out.
Cue the fav hacking up
fred cant get 1/4 for the EW with any of the 3 bookies offering it so taking the 1/5 would be losing value
only horse that anyone can get that is best price with a bookie offering 1/4 for ew is scottish 9.0 with everyday but 1 on a leap year
I agree with Horsey's thinking here and fred can get on with beteveryday if it needs to.
The sussex is obviously a great each way race too. There are only 8 now, so will be a wating job, but Night of Thunder and Arod each way look obvious bets on a tricky course with an odds on favourite.
As an aside, it is pretty sad that you worry about withdrawals in a race as valuable of this, with prize money down to 8th on good ground, but you do.
There really shouldn't be withdrawals, but better wait until 2. Suggest anything above 5/1 night of thunder is going to be good if you get quarter first 3, and anything above 7/1 is still likely to be good on Arod. Suggest 20 e/w both.
The 15.45 also looks excellent. Washington DC has pulled out, but with 10 left an odds on favourite and 2 no hopers, we should definitely bet.
Lathom and Rouleau both seem like good types. Lathom was well beaten at Ascot, but came back and one a big sales race. Rouleau looks progressive. I don't think we need to wait all day, as beteveryday normally matches the best prices at 10. Suggest 20 each way on those 2 as well. I think anything above 7/1 on either is bound to be good at quarter odds 3 places.
You want a proper stayer in the 2.00 as it is an ultra long distance. I think Teak fits the bill and would be happy with 12/1 and 4 places. Maybe 10 e/w here as it isn't so good as the races already mentioned. I am also looking at Taws. I think you can ignore her last race as she was racing against horses that would be 10 pounds higher in a handicap. I want to be a bit greedy here, and maybe we can see if anyone goes 18/1 in the morning (currently 20 on betfair and the best price is only 16/1). I guess I'll take the 16/1 if it starts going.
The 16.55 could be nice too with 16 runners, but I am not wasting time on it when we could easily lose a couple.
The 17.25 looks sure to be nice but I am fading.
All together a much better day for betting than day 1.
I can confirm that thread had 20 e/w at 8-1 quarter first 3 on Lathan and Rouleau in the 3.45 with me.

Remind me later to settle up, please, memory & workload are a bit of a struggle at the mo.
Did you know they are doubling the width of the Suez Canal, to make it 2 way?
Under the Constantinople Convention, that means enemy warships could pass each other as they traverse the Canal. That'd be fun.

Changed my mind. I don't think we get 8/1 later and nobody should pull a horse from this as it would be mad to do so. Tgread has 20 e/w Arod at 8/1 1/4 3 places. Might back night of thunder later if it gets bigger but only done Arod for now.
