I'm planning to have a max bet on bwin/party at 3/10 for Leo DiCaprio to win the Golden Globe next week. I know Fred can't bet on that site but anyone want to talk me out of it?

Universally tipped to win the Oscar with talk that he is due. If he wins oscar than he wins Golden Globe?

I've not seen the movie yet myself but I am not sure who is going to beat him this year...

http://www.oddschecker.com/awards/golden-globes/best-actor-drama

He is also 1/3 best price Best Actor in the Oscars but that's not til Feb 29th.

He seems like an absolute lock for the Oscar. I've read some pieces about Paul Dano for his portrayal of Brian Wilson. Seems like he's been deemed a supporting actor and is a possible chunky price for the Oscar, given I've never heard of him and Sylvester Stallone is up for the award.

One to stow away in your thought pockets anyway

Paul Dano would be best known as the Eli, the preacher kid from There Will be Blood. At 31 years old he's building up a good resume as that slightly odd looking support character.

Creed's been well recieved all across the board. Not brilliant, but just a return to the simple feel good formula of the original Rocky. Basically, Sly Stallone is palatable on the rare occasion he acted his age. It feels like he'd be running at EV by just being nominated for an Oscar.

Anyone who can get on with Coral, they are doing their own thing in this market.

http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/premier-league/top-10-finish

West Ham at 11/10 the pick, probably a genuine 8/11-4/5 shot.

Feels like they haven't updated their prices after the weekend. Short about Watford, biggest about West Ham etc. Dare I say the prices might be wrong? Beware the palp card.

Supporting actor category is far more wide open and interesting. Two British actors Mark Rylance and Idris Elba at the front of the betting.

Yes, on the flip-side there's an awful lot more films to catch up on in that category. The Ryland and Elba films have gone to the front of my to watch list.

Big Bash tomorrow is Adelaide Strikers v Perth Scorchers. Both sides have a wrist spinner playing, Adelaide have an attacking one in Adil Rashid whilst Perth have a defensive one in Brad Hogg.

Teams tend to try and milk Hogg for ones and twos and don't try the big shot, as they can't pick which way the ball is turning so it's obviously high-risk to try and go for the big hit. In his 4 games this pattern has happened 3 times, he's taken 0-24 from 4 overs against Adelaide (tomorrow's opponents), 1-15 off 4 overs against Brisbane and 0-20 off 4 overs against the Sydney Sixers. The anomaly was Chris Gayle taking him apart when Hogg bowled against the Melbourne Renegades, where he took 0-44 off him 4 overs.

In comparison, Rashid uses flight to try and entice batsman into going for the big shots. He happily risks going for boundaries for the potential to take wickets, and is used as a strike bowler by his captain. He took 2-27 against the Melbourne Stars, 2-21 against Perth (tomorrows opponents), 0-39 against Sydney Thunder and 3-34 against the Sydney Sixers.

So Hogg has 1 wickets in 16 overs, compared to Rashid's 7 off the same amount of overs. Korral have Rashid at 4/5 in a bowler match bet (DNB). Obviously the nature of the market means one or two crazy balls can be the difference between a win and a loss, but judging by past events it's quite possible Hoggy will remain wicketless and Rashid has shown the ability to take 2+. The Scorchers openers have been in great form recently, only losing 1 wicket in total in their last 2 games, but Adelaide have 3 good wicket-taking threats and the Scorchers middle order is unproven, so he should get a crack at bowling to guys 3-6 in the order.

the scorchers middle order is unproven because Klinger and Marsh score tons of runs at 1 and 2 and we never see them...;-))

The price has been shortening on Stoke to qualify. It was 5/2 and now 23/10. I can't see how it can be much more than a pick 'em so I'd still be backing it.

Adelaide batting first, so Rashid will bowl in the 2nd innings. In theory that's a good thing for the bet, so long as they get a competitive total on the board.

Sheffield Wednesday have bid accepted for Nick Blackman by Reading

Did not see that come probably is a neutral thing for his chances possibly a slight upgrade in terms of chances he will get if he goes.
