I'm not sure Singhee's bets should be included in a "betting" thread. That implies there's an element of risk involved.

Brilliant.

Sigh, is there any way I can set a thread to notify me when a particular person posts? I can't afford to miss another Singhee post.

He's unreal!

What a record he has with us. Vince will know his exact stats - bets placed/winner ratio, & ROI, but he has done us proud, I think over 80% of his bets have been winners. Sample size, heater, yada yada, but still pretty neat.

We really ought to follow his recommends "blind" for a while.

Daily Report, as @ 08:15 Monday July 30th

A very pleasing day.

It seemed to be a very busy day, but in fact, we only placed 3 bets yesterday, 2 of which won, & the other (a Tennis wager) has been re-scheduled for today.

Yesterday's two winners were Bazzaboy's incredible darts "spot" on Wade's average. It looked too good to be true, Fred had his first Max Bet this month (in fact, first for over 6 weeks I believe), & half the thread were on it as well. I never saw the match, but it looked like we flew out of the traps, faded late on, then rallied on the line to win by a short head. Boom! Well done Bazza. We "only" cleared £100 profit, but I'll take that all day. Incidentally, we had quite a few Darts bets during the week, & we came to that final bet all square, so the £100 was our overall profit.

Singhee re-emerged from wherever to give us a Baseball jobbie, & that won in style. The man really does know his Baseball. I had handed over to Mere, & he chose to put £80 on, & so we made a profit of £104 there.

The Tennis match, down to Brent  - Melzer v Cilic (we are on Melzer) - will now be today.

We also had a few bets complete which had been running for several days......

Wesselingh failed to get home in the Seniors Open, which cost us £20, & Sandy's Hole in One in the Canadian Open failed to happen, so that cost £50. Sandy must be miles ahead on statties so no complaints there, & Methuselah's wager was a pure banzai @ 100/1, if we follow those long enough & we'll come out ahead.

hector found a right corker in the Golf, Doctor Noh (Seung-Yul Noh) to finish Top 20, for a £75 profit. Dr Noh has now made Top 20 in 5 of his last 6 Tournaments, which is quite something. He might be one to follow for a while.

In Olympic Football maldini's brave banzai on UAE to beat Team GB missed, but with hindsight, 9/1 still looks like value to me. It's not easy to put up 9/1 bets in football, you KNOW you are going to get dissed, but it was a decent bet imo. Anyway, it cost us £50.

The ones that got away. Sometimes the difference between winning & losing is the bets we miss, & that coin landed our side yesterday, as we missed a F1 bet, & a horse, both of which would have lost. We swerved good.

A good day, plenty of fun, some really good sweats, & come what may, July will not be a bad month, we'll be somewhere close to break-even. In the Football off-season, that's a result, because Football is where our broadest range of expertise seems to sit.

What's coming up?

As far as I can see, our only interest today is in the Olympic Tennis, Melzer v Cilic. (£25 @ 3/1).

There may be some other Olympic-based stuff, but with so many events going off at the same time, it's hard to keep track. I'll summarise our Olympic position shortly.

For those who like a bet on televised sport (excluding the Olympics), tonight we can see the following Live action.

Rugby League.

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats - v Leeds Rhinos. Note the playground team names, yuk. Back in the day "Leeds v Wakefield" was all it needed to excite, now we have to add daft names to please the red-tops.

Anyway, outright odds are here....

 http://www.oddschecker.com/rugby-league/club-rugby/super-league/wakefield-v-leeds/winner

With little apparent value there, the sub-markets might throw up something....

http://www.oddschecker.com/rugby-league/club-rugby/super-league/wakefield-v-leeds/betting-markets

There is ECB40 cricket, too, Lancashire Lightning & Gloucestershire Gladiators. Jeez, I can feel a rant coming on with those stupid names, dio they think we are all about 7 years old with team posters on our bedroom walls or something?

http://www.oddschecker.com/cricket/domestic/cb40-league/lancashire-v-gloucestershire/winner

Sub-markets are here....

http://www.oddschecker.com/cricket/domestic/cb40-league/lancashire-v-gloucestershire/betting-markets

The game starts, I believe, at about 4.40pm.

Ooh, go the Lightning.......

Finally, there is the British Final, no less, of Elite League Speedway. We have yet to back a Speedway winner.

PS - Just realised that we have Uruguay as Group A winner, & they were turned over by the widely under-rated Senegal. Not sure where that leaves our bet.

Olympics - where are we?

As far as I can see, this is what we have. It excludes Olympic-related SPOTY stuff.

100 metres. Gatlin £10 @ 25/1, Jaffa Cake.

Football, Group A Winner, Uruguay,  £80 @ 6/4, Horneris.

Basketball Top 3 - Brazil, £40 @ 13/2, Jaffa Cake.

Medal Tally, GB top 3, £50 @ 2/1, Tighty.

Womens Handball winner, Norway, £40 @ 7/4, Rubbish.

Swimming, Phelps, 200m individual medley, £55 @ 10/11, Jaffa Cake.

Boxing, Tom Stalker, Light Welter, £25 @ 6/1, Bazza.

Tennis, £25 @ 3/1 Melzer to beat Cilic, Horneris.

I have no idea where we stand with those, what the state of play is, if anyone does, please let us know.

Not sure, but from what I can see, so far our Olympic losses are £50, on the Team GB v UAE game.

I have bet on one of Singhee's tips. It lost.

Do you want my bank details to send me money to not bet on any more?

As you've already inadvertently pointed out, it's never been "Wakefield v Leeds", it was previously "Wakefield Trinity v Leeds".
The advent of franchise names was not done to please the "red tops", it was primarily a marketing exercise to allow teams to sell a massive amount of franchise merchandise and forge a sense of identity for the start of Super League largely covered by Sky Sports.
They could have followed the inspiring football lead by calling the teams "City", "Town" and "United" but I don't think that they should be criticised for choosing rather more original, if somewhat fanciful, names.
Teams of highly paid marketing consultants came up with these names so they must be good.
In particular Leeds chose "Rhinos" to commemorate the large groups of wild rhinos that used to inhabit the Headingley area.

In rugby union, the British Lions seem to have been accepted without much complaint, even from old fuddy-duddys.

I may have been a little loose with the actualité.

The physical gap between the lines was narrow, but not so narrow I could not read between them.
