Rather sad, I thought. It looked an efficient operation, too. Crowds at Cashman Field averaged over 4,000 per game, and the club does a lot of community stuff.

I hope the 51ers somehow keep going, be a shame if there were no Baseball in Vegas.

I spent a while looking at the stats for the 2 sides in the World Series, and there’s a case to be made for the Astros at the prices.

- Their overall win % is vitually as good as the Dodgers, in a League that appears to have had stronger teams. Teams play the majority of their games against the other teams in their league.
- Their 8-2 (W/L) for the last 10 games of the season matches the LAD’s record, so they’ve not limped into the playoffs
- Their win % on the road is better, which is of course crucial if they’re to win the series
- They’ve had a tougher post-season, but also shown “grit & determination” by coming back from 2-3 ro win their series vs the NYY, tougher opponents than the Cubs, beaten by LAD

On this basis, 7-5 against the Astros seems too big. For an interest, I’m with the Astros for £25 @ 7/5

I have also backed Houston. Seems to me to close to a flip, but I'm no baseball expert; just a casual fan.

There is a tennis bet that I like today in the Basel tournament. Borna Coric faces Henri Laaksonen and has been made favourite for the game. Coric has greatly disappointed over the last 2 years after being touted as the next big thing in tennis. His form is poor, he has lost both matches against Laaksonen, and it is an indoor match which is also to Laaksonen's advantage. As a final benefit Laaksonen is Swiss so he will have huge crowd support. I would have Laaksonen as a 4-6 shot today.

Suggest £20 Laaksonen @ 11/10 with Hills but better be quick.
