Rec time! Been waiting for this market, fred had some success in it last year so fingers crossed for a repeat.....

Pep Guardiola on Bernardo Silva after the Charity Shield; "Right now it’s Bernardo and 10 more, but it’s about what you do over the season. In this moment Bernardo is far above the other guys. Today the performance (of Bernardo) was a masterpiece."

High praise indeed, but he's well worthy of it. The lad is different gravy. Now he's had a year of English football under his belt he'll be even better. Pep has also hinted over summer that D.Silva won't be relied on as much as he has been previously, giving Bernardo the chance to shine through the middle, out wide, or even up front.

The good thing about YPOTY is that there isn't a huge amount of competition; top 5 in fave order are Sane, Jesus, Keita, Alli and Sterling (Silva is next)….

Sane is understandably the clear favourite but Pep has already claimed he needs to improve. He also might see less game time due to the arrival of Mahrez. As little as 5/1 just isn't value.
Jesus is a great player but again will be sharing duties with Aguero. Also more 'workmanlike' than your average Brazilian talent, a lot of his best attributes aren't flashy (workrate, off the ball movement etc)
Keita, new to the league. Bit of an unknown quantity. Very good player by all accounts.
Alli...meh. Not for me, certainly not at 9/1.
Sterling had the season of his life last year and still only came 3rd. Another who might see less game time thanks to Mahrez (his ongoing contract wranglings probably ain't helping either)

Outside of those 5 and Silva, there isn't really much realistic competition (compare this to the POTY market, where there are probably a dozen candidates who would fancy their chances, alongside a couple of longshots/wildcards).

Rec £20 on Bernardo Silva for YPOTY at 16/1 with PP (I can do this should the powers that be green light it). I'd have him much closer to single digits.

As Tighty is not around, yes please Jon,

Do I still have credit? If not, let me know and I will send it across.

Thanks.

Plenty of updates as we go along, please, if you don't mind discussing Man City on here from time to time.

So far so good Wink

The less said about Swansea to go down the better though.....ahem.

Anything over 7-4 Morecambe to get relegated from L2 is too big.

Scenes!

Excellent. To be fair, even his sternest critics - & had had plenty of those - could not deny his work-rate.

http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11670/11471801/sam-allardyce-slams-unai-emerys-stupid-tactics-against-man-city

Its no wonder that English football had been in the doldrums for decades with dinosaurs like ''Big Sam'' constantly getting top flight gigs followed by the national team job.

Fair play to Emery for trying to implement his system from the outset. It would've been easy to instruct Sam-esque hoofball, but that still probably would've led to a defeat. Yesterday was like a free swing for Arsenal, they ain't gonna be playing teams of that calibre every week and the chance to test their new tactics against a team who play in a similar style (and very well) was a good chance for him to gauge where they need to improve.

He'd have learnt nothing had they played Allardyce type football, instead he probably learnt plenty in 90 minutes.

BillyHills for the City vs Huddersfield game on Sunday....

City 1/25
Draw 12/1
Hudds 40/1

All seems a tad extreme to me. Must be around the shortest and longest price a team has ever been in the Prem? Finished 0-0 last season lest we forget Wink

Jeez if I still had my Victor account I’d stick a tender on that! 40/1 is huge!

It's swapped now and billyhills are 'only' 33/1 for Hudds whereas BV are now out at 40s.

Pretty incred price really. It's what you'd expect in a cup tie vs some random minnows like Brentford, not against fellow Premier League opposition.

Some of the odds are just so lol. Almost pointless bookies even offering the markets at these prices.

City -3; 6/4
City -4; 3/1
City -5; 13/2

We bashed a few teams last season but I don't think we beat anyone by 6 clear goals in the league? Maybe Watford away but can't remember exact score. And our results against Huddersfield were far from convincing (0-0 at home and a later winner at theirs)

I think we'll win but its no secret how they will line up and it'll be up to us to break them down, which we struggled to do last season.

40/1 is just silly though.

Not really, correct price for me. An utterly dominant team. Don't see why so many are so keen to try and take them on at every opportunity.

We don't really have a thread for those "did you see that?" moments, so I'll stick this here for now.

In the Europa League, Zenit were 0-4 down after the first leg. Last night, despite having a man sent off, they ended up winning the tie.....8-5.

Times of their goals were - wait for it - 22, 66, 75, 78, 109, 115, 121 & 123.
