8/1+ for West Ham at The Grove on Saturday seems a trifle out of line to this observer.

It seems that nearly all of the ‘black type’ races at York so far this week have two things in common. 8 or 9 runners and an Aidan O’Brien runner or two prominent in the betting. It occurred to me that it’s a spot to combine two of our favourite things. Races with a great e/w shape and things that have a related contingency but aren’t considered ad such by the bookies. ‘Listen’ says his horses are under prepped after sickness in the yard. I think we have an edge if we take on his horses in e/w multiples.

I like Angels Hideaway and Sea of Class in an E/W double. I’m sure Doobs will have a view, I’d like to hear what people think.

Its not very often I put too much stock in anything Nevo has to say, but one point he makes time after time and it is rarely amiss, is to follow the late money for O'Brien horses(not that I followed it, before anyone starts!) It was there for the first runner but not for his reps in the second.

Also highlighted another of those often dragged out truisms, that when Frankie is looking beat, he doesn't try very hard to optimise his finishing position....

Edit. Boy have wee seen two quality ladies today!!

In this case yes.

Admittedly could never find space, but he was dropping his hands as he got squeezed again, and so lost any chance of getting a better finishing pozzie.

As said, its not the first time...still a great jock though, as his ride on Poets proved.

It has been an eventful few days in F1, here are my pre-Belgian GP bet suggestions:

Race Winner - Lewis Hamilton @ 6/4+ with Betfair/Paddy/SportingBet. The current average price across all bookies shows Sebastian Vettel as the favourite, which I don't really agree with. Based on what I've seen so far this season, I expect Mercedes to have the upper hand at the Spa circuit. Suggest £20.

Top Three Finish - Valtteri Bottas @ 3/1 with SportingBet. As above. Suggest £10.

https://www.oddschecker.com/motorsport/formula-1/belgian-grand-prix/top-3-finish

Points Finish - Stoffel Vandoorne @ 9/2 with William Hill. The distinct lack of downforce in the McLaren could play into their hands this weekend due to the nature of the circuit, assuming the car stays reliable. I'm happy to take £10 at this price. I make it one of Stoffel's best chances to score points all season.

Points Finish - Lance Stroll @ 12/1+ with various. F1 is in unprecedented territory at the moment. Driver entry lists have to be confirmed on Tuesday to the FIA. However, with the new "Racing Point Force India" team being officially created today, and confirmed as racing in Spa-Francorchamps, there is a potential loophole in the regulations that means they still need to confirm their drivers. Naturally, new owner Lawrence Stroll will want his boy in this team if he can; it's a considerably more competitive car than the Williams. A lot of "if's" are needed for this logic to follow through, but at 12/1, it's worth £10.

Stroll bet is off the table. I've had confirmation that Force India's driver line-up and engine/tyre allocation is applicable in Spa. I'll edit the original post.

EDIT: It won't let me edit the original post

Learn something new! Thanks. Seems I'm in decent company on that one. Someone should tell every media person, too.

Bradshaw has left Barnsley, so there's no way they'll let Kieffer go you'd think. A must-bet EW.
