No real shocks to see VVD and Sterling scoop their respective PFA awards.

Can't see a breakdown of the top 3 for YPOTY but I think it's safe to assume that Bernardo Silva came 2nd. It's a weird one because although Raheem is a very deserving winner, ask any City fan and they will most likely tell you that Bernardo has been our standout performer this season. What he 'lacks' vs Sterling is the headline figures for goals/assists. Disappointing that we missed out on consecutive 16/1 winners in that market Sad

I've mentioned before, but I shall be keeping my eyes peeled on BS's odds for POTY for next season. He was as big as 100/1 during the season and although it was always gonna be an uphill battle against VVD, to be 100/1 and get into the final 6 really shows how under the radar he is perhaps viewed. I'm hoping that will at least slightly reflect in his pre-season odds because I think Fred should be all over him for 2019/20. Watch this space....

Apologies Ant, bit of a tongue in cheek comment above by me, but perhaps wasn't obvious Smiley I was rather merry after what was quite a nervous afternoon!

No no! Chompy needs your thanks, he has been pushing VVD.

I made a comment within a post way back in September I think it was that VVD was way too big at 80/1 for POTY or words to that effect. Sadly it was more an observation than a rec, and I also didn't follow my own advice.
FML indeed.

Didn't want an 80/1 winner anyway so it's all gravy.

Not for fred as its shy....

VVD 80/1 for POTY seems well out of line. The various league defensive stats for Liverpool since he signed are pretty rock solid. Should they have a great season, and early indications look like they will, he's gonna play a big role in any success they have.

Obv the competition for such a prize is gonna be immense, and playing in an 'unfashionable' position won't help his cause and it's rare for defenders to win it (Terry did back in his pomp and thats about it), but 80/1 when he's as low as 20/1 elsewhere looks some good value.

On a very similar note, Mendy is also 80/1 for the accolade (shy but also beteveryday should fred be inclined). In my totally unbiased eyes that again looks huge. Expect Pep to play 3 at the back more often this season meaning Mendy will be playing as essentially a left winger in selected games. Well worth a tenner of anyones money.

Why the fuck don't I follow my own advice Sad

I was well off the mark with Mendy though Wink

An eye-opening 1st half in the Spurs - Ajax CL semi final, as the visitors totally dominate affairs for the first 30 or 35 minutes.Ajax look very good indeed.

Time for Poch to weave some half time magic in the dressing room.

I don't know if anybody has read about this, but a sports bettor/ex pker player from 2plus2 is crushing Jeopardy in the USA.  He was easily the fastest person to a million, and as far as I know is still crushing, but apparently one game was very close the other day.

I don't know much about jeopardy, but he seems to have taken time to work out what are the small edges he can tale advantage of to be a big winner on it.

Some intersting betting stuff from an old well on 2 plus 2.

This seems to mirror what was in Moneyball where everybody used to get the stats wrong on baseball.  There seems to be a massive disconnection between what you can get on in the USA and what you can get on here.  There is also a massive disconnection between how much you can win before getting banned!   It is historical, and most US facing betting sites have closed/gone bust, so I guess the gap has narrowed, though living in Vegas must mean there is still a choice on getting high wagers on.

I'd been following this in another thread on VMB, but wasn't aware that he was an ex poker player.

Isn't he the winningest player of all time already?

No, he has easily the highest average win per game.   I think there are still a couple of people ahead of him.  I could be out of date on this.

You can click on his name on the 2 plus 2 thread to see his history.  He hasn't posted since 2012, but had a lot of posts before then.  He moved to sports betting from poker at least 10 years ago from memory.

There is a ridiculous article on him killing jeopardy here:

No idea, assume he can just keep crushing.   Guess that there is sufficient randomness that someone can beat him.   They should just copy his strat, but guess a lot of people are hard-wired risk averse types.
