Rugby League Huddersfield Giants v Leeds Rhinos.

This is a meaningless fixture with final league positions already sorted. Looking at the prices I actually saw one that made me go WTF? William Hill are going 1/6 Leeds. Neither side are playing well and haven't done all season. Leeds have the better players but they are an old team. Leeds can be best summarised by saying they lose to the good teams, beat the bad teams, then struggle against the average teams. Huddersfield are an average team who have been playing badly. Today is their last home game of the season and they have a new captain both factors which could have a positive influence. Huddersfield are in the playoffs so I can't see that they will capitulate, they have to try and find some form.

Recommend Huddersfield Giants £20 @ 7/2 William Hill.

If that price has gone by the time you get on then anything over 2-1 is value.

Nice one hector, thanks.

You seem to hint that the price may drop steeply, & it has already gone from 7/2 down to 11/4, but you said 2/1 would be fine, so we are on.

Incidentally, 4 different people at DTD told me yesterday that they follow all your tips "blind". You have your very own Fan Club.

We have £20 @ 11/4, (William Hill), Huddersfield to beat Leeds.

Now I am worried. To think that there are 4 people who do that is a heavy responsibility. Seems a bit like the blind leading the blind !  I hope they all got on Brett Hodgson for the Lance Todd Trophy to keep me in brownie points.

Hills are now 1/4 Leeds which even as a Leeds supporter is just crazy. They may win but their performances this year do not warrant that price.

It will be interesting to see how the Doctor gets on today. It will show us  he is ready to win on the tour if he can shoot low.

In yesterdays post I managed to use something I learnt from the TV show Pointless. I have used them before but didn't know what they were called- .... "ellipsis"  but I have never heard of the other thing / "solidas" I think I prefer the term "forward slash".

I used the word "oblique" the other week on the phone to a solicitor when quoting his reference number. I got "sorry?". "Oblique? Forward slash" "Oh is that what it's called?!"

I hate to get into a conversation about motor racing as it is clearly a totally ridiculous sport but isn't Alonso a bit of a joke price at 14/1 to win the GP today? That makes him 15/8 to podium which seems a bit short considering he is 10th on the grid. It's not like he is super-dominant or CLEARLY in the best car. Surely the price comes from punters wanting to back a big name at a "working man's price" and not fancying some of the unfashionable guys 3rd to 9th.

There has to be some ew value shooting for that 3rd place doesn't there?

I have backed vettel at 27s even though I think Hamilton wins.  I think Schumacher needs the rain.   Can't fancy massa anymore, since his accident and others are too far back.

I dunno Neil, he's clearly in the second best car, overtaking isn't going to be a problem. He claims he could have been on pole had he not had a problem yesterday which they've fixed. He's got Massa ahead of him, who will get out of the way on demand if necessary, so that's another place made up without any problems. All of that makes 15/8 seem reasonable to me. I'm inclined to believe that Ferarri do indeed have a good car, since Massa has managed to qualify it 3rd, and he's super mega rubbish.

Especially with the unconvincing Massa going off 3rd on the grid.  The Saubers have always impressed me this season and I think they go off from the upper midfield and are both 25-1 to make the podium.

The qualified really well last time out as well, before Grosjean wiped them both out on the first corner so their car seems to be running well.

They would be my picks.

Monza is the fastest track in the schedule: 360kph+. Cars are flat out for 3/4 of the race. Alonso starts behind diResta who had a great qualifying (4th) but demoted 5 places. Still expect Alonso to pick through the field today.

Winning it would require a pretty big incident like last week but 3rd would not be a surprise under normal (if unpredictable) circumstances.

I actually kinda like Massa for a podium.  End of the day he is in the same car as Alonso and way in front of him on the grid and a better price.  It seems that these second drivers tend to get one or two chances a year and often seize it.  He is no 3.40 to podium imo.

I like your thinking on Vettel Doobs. At 25/1 I would havve loved to back him ew. At the end of the day this is a great ew betting heat and it doesn't really matter who you back - they are all great value to place.

Unfortunately Betfred are win only in the shops and that is the only 25/1.

I'm now happy and sad. I just went out to walk round as many Hills shops as I could by noon. Last week I did 14 shops for Kobayashi before they changed the price, This week I left home much later so I thought I'd try £200 ew in each shop. The price changed after one shop.

I have £200 ew Massa at 18/1. I am happy that Redarmi likes it but sad I am badly understaked. This will now obviously win.

I thought Button looked a little short and Hamilton at 5/6 was fair. I really don't get this idea that there will be people overtaking six or eight drivers. I watch this tedious sport most weeks and you can go whole races without a single overtake.

I would suggest a Fred bet at 20/1 with Totesport or 18/1 with Bluesq if you can get on with those Tikay. He is only 3.45 to Podium on Betfair. Would suggest £20 ew.

I also can't really have the "team orders means he can't win" arguement. It assumes that Alonso is challenging for the podium every time which happens around 33% of the time only (according to the market which I don't really agree with anyway).
