That European win was the thread's most unlikely winner, from where we were entering the latter stages, I would contend

Just a bit - that final hole gave us a huge swing.

Think mine must have been the bigger sweat.  Boooooom

It was, for us, & in context, a MASSIVE swing for us, as you'll see when the Report comes out.

Phew!

Well done you.

Never have I been so nervous placing a Fred Bet. Worked out perfect in the end, though I never quite saw it panning out the way it did.........

That very last putt resulted in huge swings for so many - especially the bookies, who wanted halves in the preceding 27 matches, but NOT the 28th.......

The MONTHLY Report for September is currently being compiled by Vince, & will be posted in due course - big thanks to him for that, & for managing the Spready so well.

Daily Report as @ 0910, Monday October 1st

We made a profit of £110 yesterday.

Three bets completed (taking Doobsy's "halves" portfolio as a single), of which one lost, & two won.

Our Ryder Cup halves bet lost £110.

Our Ryder Cup, Europe to win (Anonymous philanthropist Fred follower,  £50 @ 2/1 = £100) got home, & Doobsy's halves bet gave us £120 nett profit.

In an extraordinary end to September, we got out of a loss on the last bet, at 11.30pm on the last day, on the last match, on the last hole, on the last putt.

On Saturday, everything went tits up, but we said swings & swongs, take it like a man. Yesterday, it swonged the other way. Partly due to a massive dick.

As Camel said yesterday, what a thing this gambling game is.

And how much fun have we had?

Sportingbet had the following Ryder cup special yesterday.

Bet on any Ryder Cup match and if your selection loses the match on the final hole Sportingbet will refund losing bets as a free bet, up to £100.

In both the Stricker v Kaymer and the Dufner vs Hanson matches could we say our selction lost on the final hole?

Our selection certainly hadn't lost before the final hole.  Neither score was level going in to the final hole.  I haven't got the terms and conditions.

Any thoughts?

The T20WC matches today at Pallakelle

It is a fresh pitch

This, as we saw on Saturday, is vital

NZ need to win, WI should win

If we remember the worn/dry/low pitch total boundaries was 30-32 on Saturday

Fresh pitch boundaries in the three previous games were over 40, as per Saturday's analysis

Recommend £60 Over 36.5 boundaries at 5/6 West Indies v New Zealand

http://www.oddschecker.com/cricket/international/twenty20-world-cup/west-indies-v-new-zealand/total-boundaries

Potentially another go on Sri Lanka v England later.

I would need input from others on that one Doobs, as I would not know how to argue the case.

Incidentally, I mentioned a few times yesteday what a difficult site I found Sporting Bet was to use.

I now hear that William Hill have bid £350 million for Sporting Bet, & it has been rejected.

Hi Doobs - I assume the argument they will use is that the events of the final hole didn't cause them to lose, hence they didn't "lose" on the final hole?  ie the damage was already done.

So, what happened in September?

Fred closed 102 bets with a total of £2,797.16 wagered for a profit of £136.59 and an aggregate ROI of 4.88%.

Fred bet on 13 different sports with football (38 bets) and American Football (16 bets) being most popular.
Football returned a profit of £62.84 whilst American Football made £149.25 .
The most profitable sport was American Football and the biggest loser was horse racing (again) with a loss of £75.

29 different people provided the tips for the bets which Fred placed including 4 first time tipsters.

Overall, we have the following statistics since we started in February:

Fred has placed 693 bets with a total of £27,880.50 wagered for a profit of £864.34 and an aggregate ROI of 3.1%.

Fred has bet on 26 different sports with football (234 bets) still dwarfing all over sports in terms of activity. Next busiest are golf (97 bets), cricket (62 bets) and horses (58).

The statistics for our most and least profitable sports (based on aggregate profit/loss) are:

The complete list is here:

88 different people have provided the tips for the bets which Fred placed.

We have punted with 19 different bookies/exchanges.
We have made £598.86 profit with Bluesquare whilst losing £528.75 with StanJames.

The complete list is here:

Excellent stuff Vince, thank you very much.

8 months in, & we are in profit, averaging £108 per month. I would not have believed that possible when this thing first began, I assumed the 'roll would be lost within a month or two.

The Elders apart, not too many people can turn a profit over 8 months at punting. The amount we have wagered is mind-blowing - nearly £29,000! - & I suppose £800 is not much to speak of in the greater scheme of things, but as a lifelong ice-cream, I'm chuffed to bits.

Big up to everyone who has contributed tips, to the Elders for their infinite patience, & to Vince for managing the spreadsheets without which it would not work.

The thread is a dream, too, no mardybum stuff, no aftertiming, & the debates we have are brilliant, proper debates, rather than arguments & nonsense personal stuff. It's a pleasure to read, & be part of.

If we could just find a way to get rid of Chompy, we'd be home & hosed.

Pretty sure I'm operating at around a 70% strike-rate for a 390% ROI.
