Darts - PDC Worlds.

Don't forget, when suggesting "outright" bets for this, that we already have a position, in that we have bet on MVG - £10 @ 50/1 - suggested by Bazzaboy back in October.

incred tekkers by bazza

It was actually better than that Guy - I'm pretty sure that when Bazza first Posted it here MVG was 100/1. He then Posted again when he was 80/1.

Of course, by the time yours truly had got his arse in gear, he was "only" 50/1, but I know plenty of Freddies are on at 80/1 & up.

LOVE all these "Worst Bet" memories.

The 4 second F1 bet took some beating, but Mere tried with Serena, then we missed a few handicap lines by about 60 points.

I still think the Shot-Putt Lady against whom the favourite was not going to start, as she had failed to enter. Except she got special exemption, & did.....

In Best Bets, "What sort of microphone will Madonna wear at SuperBowl?" was another.

But surely one of the Best was that "which team will kick off at the Superbowl?", a seeming 50/50 shot, which we piled on at 17-20......

Too many to remember, really.

I doubt ANY Fred Bet had as many on as Dwayne's "12" bet last night.

But yes, we will do an end of year awards thing.

I think the shot putterer who looked like Colin Lloyd  was only about 12/1 to be a man and then got disqualified for various drug offences too.

edit Atherton on Sky

"that score is worth 270-5 on a more normal pitch"

"never seen a pitch as cracked as this, they widened considerably in the 48 hours before the match"

Thread might not want to...but England at 9/4 is the bet

OK Mr P, we have invested a further £40 @ 9/4.

England to win the 4th Test v India, £40 @ 9/4 with William Hill.

From the sublime to the ridiculous (according to Tikay...)

The nominations for January's Golden Globes have been announced and now is the time - should the inclination stiffen - to look ahead to the Academy Awards. Whilst I do reel (pun ever so intended) at the cliché, the Globes remain at least a pointer to how the Oscars will go.

Daniel Day-Lewis is a hotter favourite than Usain Bolt in a junior school sports day to win Best Actor and as 1. It's DDL, 2. It's Spielberg and 3. He's playing Abraham Lincoln, we should probably avoid that market like Tikay double-check-raise.

I'm hoping to do a bit of proper research tonight but I have a feeling we might be able to take advantage of the early markets in some of the other categories, as a film that has only just come out is likely to do well.

Artsy-fartsy nonsense yes.

You can also bet on who will be Seth MacFarlane's first quip victim (Lindsay Lohan might be a shout at 16-1, as she's just breached her parole and could be out in time for the ceremony if she is back in prison - can't believe I even typed that) and anything else that takes your fancy.

Thought process for betting now is that if we pick something that isn't favourite, if it wins a GG, the odds won't be there for us two months on.

Following my Wycombe success - Lets get the darts going; the PDC world starts Friday and I think I have found a smidgen of value in the betting on the "Fourth Quarter"

Recommendation £40 Justin Pipe 15/2 Boyles

So, why.  Well I could right an essay having gone through the draw, however I will keep it fairly brief.

James Wade is favourite - clearly brilliant, yet troubled.  I think the longer tournament gives him more time to melt down and we have maximum time to face him, as we cannot meet him until the QF.  Also in this group of eight, we have probably the most dangerous of the non Top 16 in Beaton and Mervyn king - not overly afraid of wither, although they may represent tougher challenges than some of our "also rans"

Moving to other group of eight - I would have been considering Huybrechts - who made the recent players final at the expense of our man, however sad news - his dad passed away last week.  I think this probably means steer clear, altho can go the other way obviously.  Wes Newton is a very talented player - however continually fails to translate his floor form to the big stage.

Our man - well this year has been a breakthrough year.  he made semis of Players at Butlins, made the last 16 last year, QF of World matchplay, and has risen to 9 in the PDC rankings.  He has to get past a woeful Andy Jenkins, then Mark Walsh, who as made one last 16 this year and is ranked 22.  then its Newton or Huybrechts.  If we get this far and wade crashes can get out and bank if we want to if Wade gone or let it ride

More importantly - this is the weakest quarter and I just cant be with Wade, Newton or Huybrechts.  Throw in our man has the ability to piss of the most patient of throwers and thoroughly annoy fast paced players and we have a bet.  As short as 9/2, generally - Boyles are out of line

Would be interested in Dubai, Snowball thoughts amongst others - however I am on.

OK Shaun, thanks, we have gone with that, & the lads seem to think it is reasonable.

We have £40 @ 15/2 (BoyleSports) Justin Pipe to win the "4th Quarter" in the PDC Worlds.

ON

Bet ref: 61/63£40.00 Single
Market Selection Price
PDC World Championship Quarter Betting
4th Quarter Pipe, Justin 15/2
Total stake £40.00
Estimated return £340.00

Sometime in the Summer I put up a recommendation to back QPR on the season long handicap market. Everytime I look at my current bets on Betfair I throw up a little when I see that bet come up.

She'll catch her death out in this weather without at least a scarf.

Obviously windy there, too.

Tsk tsk
