On which musical note...

An artyish one, if the mood takes you.
It would happen to be the Grammys tomorrow night and the night when those folks across the pond pat themselves on the back and pretend they're the best nation on Earth. This year there has been an increase in the British invasion and Adele will likely have an extra trophy for her cabinet with Performance of the Year.
I'm proposing one non-Brit tho.
Frank Ocean is regarded by the arty sorts as something pretty special and a gifted, soulful sort. He has the misfortune of being up against artists in their nut categories, where you can see him not getting anything. There is one exception, however, where he is only a small dog: Best New Artist.
fun. (Note the spelling) are slight favourites at 11/8 with Mr Ocean at 13/8.
The winners are decided by a huge ballot of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences members and few would argue Frank Ocean deserves a gong this year. It is hard to pick him above any of the others and I suspect this is one of those situations where he gets the nod because enough voters think he should get something on the night.
In isolation, there's nothing to suggest the market is wrong, but I believe there's something to be said for the theory that the voters want to reward a big year for a very cool choice in Frank Ocean in a category against a very poppy band like fun..
fun. will pick up awards elsewhere on the night and are bigger favourites in other categories.
Recommend a drop on Frank Ocean at 13/8 with Ladbrokes.
Seriously, though, if there's no love for it, that's fine and let's focus on the rugger.
Took me a while this morning to get the CESM acronym but it was worth it

Presumably, today is MONSTA HUGE for our bet on Ireland to win 6 Nations?
I also note that Wales are now 16/1 to be Woden Spooners.
Ireland it is, then.
It's a big match, but i would still maintain that no team is likely to run the table and win the grand slam
Either of England or Ireland could lose today and win the championship, or share it (ie still a winner for us)
The essence of the bet (Ireland 3 games at home, including Eng and France) is intact as Ireland are in with a decent shot even if they lose
May I just check what happens if two or more teams tie at the top? Does points difference not count?

Good question.
iirc net points difference does count and one winner is "crowned" (need for someone to be presented with the trophy) whereas in the olden days you'd have joint winners

Bugger, missed this last night Tally, sorry, we will be on shortly.
BAD day for me on here yesterday, with a lot of blonde stuff to sort, & I was offline a lot of the day, & from 5pm until after 11pm. (Went to Hove dogs, don't ask). Not enough hours in the day sometimes.
On which note, I am working tonight, so cannot place bets after 6pm, not back Online until around 1am. Until 6pm today, normal service.
PS - CESM is a hector-ism.

So would Ireland get paid out at ½ odds or would it just be whoever lifts the trophy?
Maybe we cross this Liffey Bridge if and when we come to it

Thanks Tal.
You never suggested an amount, & Paddy Power would only allow us £6.55 on their 13/8 shot (a drop on the Ocean), so we have.....

Note to self - when Mere is unavailable (boy, I miss his help) it is a good idea to Update the Spready when I place the bets. Now I gotta work through all of yesterday's Posts to find the bets.
I may be a while.
Mere still has technical issues, so bear with me please.
Note to Mere - come back soon!

Messi scores again (Barca playing this morning for some reason). Think that's 13 league games in a row. One man team.

Jeez, what price could you get for that, if such a Market existed?
He must be worth more than Andy Carroll.

Probably why he's getting £600k a week in his new contract...
