Looking at the brackets I think Poulter may be a bit of value, defo one of the easier brackets and he's a very good matchplay player
Any other views on that?
apropos
nothing else, I have had a small interest in Mc Dowell to beat Harrington in the first round tonight.

Glad you like the Gonzaga bet Tikay your right they look to have the regular season west coast conference locked up they have 4 games left. after which there will be a conference tournament to determine the conference champion which is then entitled to the NCAA tournament place. this gives teams that have had bad years a shot at redemption. the conference tourney is played as a straight knockout with teams seeded 1v8 7v2 etc Gonzaga and Saint mary's have won this between them every year since 2000 nearly all the conferences determine their champion like this and "championship week" takes place in the first week of march and can see some of the hardest fought and best basketball you could ever wish to see as teams fight to get to the big dance as the NCAA tournament is referred to. years ago each conference was only allowed to send one team to the NCAA's but they have expanded and now 68 teams are invited with 4 play in games and 60 teams straight through to the round of 64. this is set up almost exactly the same as the matchplay golf with 4 "brackets" normally arranged loosely on a regional basis south, east, midwest and west. each regional is seeded 1-16 and if Gonzaga continue winning then i would expect them to be awarded a no1 seed which means that they would get the easiest passage through to the sweet sixteen and hopefully the final four. next game is tonight against Santa clara i will update you with that result tommorrow.
p.s if you like the bulldogs you would love the university of California Santa Cruz Banana Slugs!!, i kid you not.
That is a wonderful summary, very helpful, thank you very much. As you can tell, I've had a google myself, but you have filled in the gaps.
If you could Update us as we go along, that would be a great help, as I suffer from (lack of) time issues to Update all the bets on here. The long running sweats are really what makes the thread so much fun, & this one could be a great addition.
Thank you, again.
Banana Slugs? Say it ain't so? google here we come..... again.

William Collum is an interesting scottish referee
He is also a teacher at my daughters school.
He certainly likes the big occasion and the attention that it brings. Any time that I see he is down to ref one of our games I have the same thought "ffs anything can happen", which bodes well for the bet I feel.

Exactly that.
We will either cruise home with loads to spare, or bomb out completely.
Either way, I love all these variety of bets, different things we get on. We must had had hundreds of different sorts of bet so far, & I enjoy them all, looking at things from a different angle.

If he genuinely were "value", I'd dabble. I like watching Poulter, that "chest & chin out, you can't beat me" attitude, & his defiant strut.
He has a nice Ferrari, too.

This looks more like the Dunhill Links Championship than a WGC in Arizona.
Harrington and McDowell will feel right at home.

Good spot! I watch that film regularly, love it to bits, but had never noticed that before.
Bet, & learn something new every day.
If only I were young again, & already knew everything.

Perfect McDowell weather.
I may have a little more on McDowell.

I have just made a remarkable(for me) discovery.
In the brackety thing if you click on a golfer's name you get all of the match's scores to date.
It's not as bad as it looked...

Correct, like so, as for instance, Kaymer.........

And in the top right hand corner of that page, you can rinse repeat for any player in the "Select Player" dop down menu.

LOL - I never noticed that either Ralph....I actually didn't even notice until just now that there were scores in there....not exactly designed by Jonathan Ives is it?
On Poulter - I was very keen to back him this week and they opened at 25-1 but there was someone with the same idea as the bigger prices disappeared almost immediately. I suspect he settled at about the right price.

Bugger. Just got myself set, sat in front of the TV, with 6 hours of great golf ahead, & they abandon play!
What a mess of the schedules this could make.

Boyles 5/4 over 46 points has to be a chunky bet if we are taking evens? Rec £60?/80?
Checked 3 spread firms who go 46-50(Spin) 45-49(Sportsspread) and 46-50(Spreadex)
