I don't know if we can bet on 888 - but Swann is 13/4 to be Top England Bowler...and 11/2 to be top bowler from both teams.

If we like this bet - William Hill are 11/2 as well which is best price.

I quite like the idea of using the WilliamHill free bet at 11/2 for top bowler from both teams.

If, as expected, Australia struggle they are likely to take less wickets in total and also change their bowling attack which will mean less chance of one of their bowlers taking this down. They also lack a quality spinner.

Quite like this too

Starc and Siddle and Pattinson should be the starting Aussie attack. They would be doing well to get more wickets in the series than Anderson, though I rate Starc in particularly highly. I like Swann at a price over five Tests v Anderson. Anderson over Broad and Finn/Bresnan could well split the five Tests in terms of selection

Really want to be against England in the cricket. It's the worst international squad I've ever seen us pick, just worried New Zealand at end of long tour and been on the beers. If I knew thy were 100% committed would be a max bet at odds against for each game

The bowling looks weak.
Opportunity for betting lots of runs/sixes/boundaries?

It is impossible to get more than £10 on with them but they often go a standout price on oddschecker in every sport.

If i was of a more cynical mind i would suggest that they are operating this purely as a way of attracting more spread betting clients (you cant open a fixed odds account with them without opening a spread betting one)

Some updates on various long term bets

1 Baseball

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/baseball/mlb/standings/?eref=sinav

We have the Tampa Bay Rays and the Boston Red Sox to win the AL East, and Tampa to go on and win the AL and World Series

I am not sure if anyone is following it but the American League East is incredibly competititve this year

Boston Lead, but all teams are within 5.5 games of the lead

Take a look at the Toronto Blue Jays. Started terribly and recently won 12 in a row, and recently have won 9 out of 10, to haul themselves into contention

Any side can win this division, all the teams can beat each other in inter-division play and it is goin to come back to the health of the starting rotations and who hits form in the run to October......

In the AL Central we have the Kansas City Royals who remain 5-7 games heing the big favourites the Detroit Tigers. With the play off Wild card ikely to come out of the East or West, The Royals need to win this division for the bet to have a chance and this is looking unlikely, albeit Singhee was on the right track because the Royals, perennial basement dwellers with a low budget, are much improved this year

2 Cricket

LVCC Div 1

Middlesex are 4th, within a few points of the each way places and a game in hand on Yorkshire who lead

The Counties now go into the month of T20 at the half way point in the County Championship, and Middlesex started well but have faded in the last two games

Rogers has gone, replaced by Adam Voges. Eoin Morgan will be back to strengthen the batting as unlikely to be picked for the Ashes.

Still hopefully of a good sweat here

We have Durham to finish bottom. They are second. Can virtually write that one off.

In the LVCC Captain run scorer bet Rogers leads but is unlikley to hold on through the second half

In LVCC2 Northants still lead, by 17 points but Lancashire in second have a game in hand. Northants form has waned a bit too, particularly with the bat. Lancs beat them last week in swing friendly conditions in Manchester which was a bad result for us but we still have a huge sweat on a 20-1 shot

Hampshire, our other bet, are 6/9 and frankly a huge disappointment to everyone.

Katich is in the top ten of LVCC2 run scorers and hopefully will have a second half where he remains in contention for that batsman bet

We now have positions on the T20-Yorkshire and the first position on the Ashes-Swann as free bets

New Zealand 2.24 on Betfair. £50?

Your call

I didn't put it on the thread as its such a non-match really, terribly scheduled. Which team is more motivated and why?

I agree with Dubai though that odds against this NZ team versus this Eng team is the value

Rebels 0 Lions 14 at half-time.

A good start for Fred's bet but there is potential for a high-scoring second half as both teams are playing an open game.

Australia Ashes batsman market

Australian top 6, likely

Rogers
Cowan
Watson
Hughes
Clarke
Khawaja

Warner no games before the first Test, suspension.

Prices are

http://www.oddschecker.com/cricket/ashes/top-australia-batsman

Clarke is favourite,

test record is immense

http://www.espncricinfo.com/australia/content/player/4578.html

Over 7200 runs at 52

proven world class but injury problems this season (long term problems with his back)

Obviously the first part of his career was in the Ponting/Warne/McGrath team and to an extent this flatters his record, but since he became captain and the Australian team struggled with rebuilding and form and controversy one thing has remained constant: Clarke has been top class. For example in the last test matches in India in March he top scored with scores of 91 and 130 in the three test series

Cowan (not good enough), Hughes (technical deficiences), Khawaja (not good enough) Warner (nutcase) not sure to play every game.

That leaves us Clarke, Watson, Rogers

Watson character concerns, doesn't get on with Clarke, sent home from India. Test Average of only 35 is lower than his talent suggests

Rogers FC record excellent, English record at Middlesex averages over 50 in 9 seasons in county cricket, this season at Middlesex over 750 runs at 50. Technique good but no test experience, so a big ask for him to go against Anderson and get the 500 or so runs required to win this bet.

This really does point to Clarke. He is fit:

the warm up against Somerset tomorrow has a top six of

Watson
Cowan
Hughes
Clarke
Khawaja
Haddin

and I reckon less than 2-1 is the right price. Paddy Power disagree and offer us 5/2, way out of line with the rest of the market

A standout price, for a standout player.

Recommend £50 Michael Clarke Top Australian Batsman Ashes Series Paddy Power
