Yes I have closed off all the Ashes bets

Our series bets netted us £1

As Australia 5-0 was 100-1 ante post, no England batsman performed and only Broad and Stokes emerged with any credit, that the Australian wicketkeeper nearly top scored with 500 runs and Mitchell Johnson, routinely derided as hopeless by generations of the barmy army, took nearly 40 wickets.....

....that £1 is a right touch

Wow, that, unlike our batsmen, is serious run-good.

Well done, & phew.

I can barely think of a positive from the Ashes, except Broad, who I thought did just fine. Boycott did his round up this morning, characteristically scathing, but he got it spot on I thought. Johnson apart, the Aussies are fairly pedestrian, & England have, (or had?) arguably, 7 or 8 "world-class" players. We just never applied ourselves.

And KP, in particular, after all the histrionics of the last 12 months, was the biggest disappointment of all. Never mind his talent, if I were an England selector, I'd never ever consider him again, lack of application, & wasting such amazing talent, is unforgiveable in my eyes. Doubt he's too keen on me, either, but there you go.

Team Management was also dreadful, they allowed it to happen, & they must pay some bills now.

If England Test Cricketers can't get motivated for an Ashes Series - the pinnacle of any England cricketers career - then it's a rum do.

Positives from the ashes- Ben stokes has some talent and fight. I wouldn't even agree with broad tbh.

I would really like to go 5/10 years in the future now and read what was going on behind the scenes on this tour.

Me too, but we can expect a plethora of books about it, & quite soon, I would imagine. Swann has probably started his already.

Do you know what will become of poor Trott? I feel so sorry for that lad.

Arizona survived a bit of a scare last night beating Washington 71 - 62 after being down as many as  6 points midway through the 2nd half Nick "bunnies" Johnson led the team with 24 pts.

Some other teams in the top 10 struggled also #2 Syracuse won an ugly low scoring game 49-44 #6 Oklahoma state were beaten by Kansas state and making all the Headlines were the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame who beat #7 Duke in a thriller 79-77.

Thanks moony.

What is the timeline of this bet, how long does it last?

Is there a League Table sorta thing we can follow?

As moonandback says it finishes in march (possibly early April). The winner is decided by the NCAA tournament where 68 teams (4 play in games) play an fa cup straight knockout tournament which is seeded based on regular season performance.

This is known as "March madness" in the us and is truly huge over there especially from a gambling point of view. Vegas has some of their best weekends in March when the tournament is on as people flock to town to bet on the games.

It would be a huge surprise if Arizona weren't to make the tournament from here and then it gets interesting!

Can't disagree with Commons.  I have been trying to get against Celtic recently in various markets but not been fingding much success.  I have managed to bink a few winners on the FGS markets of late but this is just a new thing and I don't really to have any hard stats to substantiate the bets.

Celtic to win to nil could be a bet/sweat though.  In the SPL they have conceded 12 in 19 games, St Mirren have scored only 20 in the same number of games.  Celtic's defence should be playing with confidence having gone 7 domestic games in a row without conceding a goal.   5/4 looks a bet to me, its not a market I regularly play but I would have expected this to be odds on.

Curiously, I just looked at the betslip, & it gives 18th March as the settlement date.....

18 Mar 2014 - NCAA Championship 2014 - Championship Winner

Perhaps that is when the knockout thingie commences?

I really love bets like this, NFL Outrights, Football Season, Ashes, etc, nice long sweat, followed by, we hope, a major sweat at the death.

Kris Commons first goalscorer 4/1

10 times he has done it this season. He is the same price as Stokes who couldn't strike a match. When Shearer was all the rage he was getting down to 5/2 for this market and his record wasn't a lot different.

Incredible price in my view. In fact if you could guarantee 4/1 every week for the rest of the season you'd be gutted not to be a right few quid up.

Sandy

I never realised this was a 12.45 Kick Off, so it has (just about) started now.

In truth, I had £25 @ 4/1 immediately I saw your Post, (I often do that sort of thing), but was awaiting feedback before adopting the Bet for Fred, and if it were negative, fine, I'd keep the bet off-thread.

We'll have it for Fred.

£25 @ 4/1, Commons, FGS.

For anyone interested I have placed a tenner on the under 190.5 total points on the Bulls v Hawks match tonight. Bulls without Rose and with Boozer doubtfull have completed 10 matches in a row where they havent score more than 80 points. Hawks played yesterday night and got beaten by a 3-point buzzer beater.

For some reason all the firms offer odds of 1.90 on the unders but skybet offer odds of evens. Possible error? We shall see.

Chance is now missed as Sky has lowered their odds and its 1.91 and some companies have also moved the line to 189.5.

I didn't know odds checker was just a great tool.

The match ended 91-84 for the Bulls. The Bulls may have scored more than 80 points but the bet won easily.

Thank you GreekWay.

Just checked and you are right this is when the tournament starts. The final four (semis and final) are being held first weekend in April (5-7) at the Dallas cowboys stadium.

Only 15 mins to KO but Bath +7 on the handicap is worth a bet against an injury ravaged Leicester. They have Flood and a winger on the centre so expect a low scorer.

Suggest £22 Bath + 7 @ 10/11 with Betfred, Coral, Hills.

Crikey, that must be quite a thing, that is the amazing stadium with the massive plasma/TV screens, right? I'd love to see that place, must be awesome.

NBA games are usually in much smaller venues, are they not?

Does it sell out for the NBA thing? Bet the atmo is extraordinary.

Thanks hector. Most unlike you to put up last minute bets, you generally give us 8 hours notice, minimum. Not a criticism, just an observation. Must be the Phoebe factor.

Fred is on the Handicap, & on my own account, I've dabbled in the Unders.

I think I should have had more than £22 on the Handicap Bet - we are changing a few things - but I forgot, so £22 it is, via BetFred.

William Hill make Sam Allardyce 4/1 to have left West Ham by the end of the month.

2/5 next, 8/13 by end of season

I think 4/1 is a maximum chunk. Change has to be while the transfer window is open, and his flagant disregard for today's game can't be appreciated by the club, even accepting the injuries, suspensions etc

He's on £2.95m pa, and sacking him will cost less than relegation

they have a League Cup semi-final, first leg, to play against Manchester City on Wednesday. That would appear to make an immediate sacking unlikely. The second leg is on January 21.

During January they also face league games at Cardiff and Chelsea, plus a home clash with Newcastle
