By contrast, that was the worst half of football I've seen this season of anyone. Teacups flying in both dressing rooms, I expect. They should put that half on prescription for insomniacs.

Paulinho won't be getting many today at this rate. Gordon Bennett...

I know that Fred is not a great fan of F1 but it's time to reinvest some of the Vettel money from last year before the prices disappear.

There are major changes in F1 this year and the picks all come down to reliability. My friend who works for Force India spent two hours last night explaining all about new engines, new designs and new rules and he clearly makes Mercedes favourite.

Mercedes have two great drivers in Rosberg and Hamilton. Hamilton is the more aggressive of the two and is the pick for the drivers championship as a result.

You can still get 10/3 with HillyBilly, Ladsmoke and Joe C and on Betfair you can lay him at 3.95 with fair liquidity.

Mercedes are 2.18 / 2.28 (thin) for the constructors on Betfair and you can still bet 11/8 (2.375) with Fred and Teto.

Both represent great value even without the arb situation.

Recommend £30 @ 100/30 and £40 at 11/8

First Grand Prix of the season is Australia on March 16th.

Rosberg worth a crack EW for the opening GP also? 8/1 in a couple of spots, 5/1 everywhere else.

The issue seems to have stemmed from Renault's decision to leave teams to sort out some of the development and not work closely with them, like Mercedes has with its four teams. Now there have been chronic problems with the power unit and Red Bull in particular have the overheating issue.

The best man in the sport (arguably now that Ross Brawn is no longer involved) is Adrian Newey:

"The radiator area that we need to cool the charge air from the turbo and additionally all of the extra cooling we need for the electrical side of things, the batteries, the motor generator unit and so forth, the control box... It means that the radiator area is roughly double last year's car with the V8. So trying to package that in without compromising the aerodynamics too heavily is a challenge."

What's your/your man's view on the RB10? Should we be expecting it to be stronger in the second half of the season, once they have the laps in? They still have the best driver and the best technical team.

Have the punters been opposing Red Bull these last couple of weeks?

Can't disagree with Merecedes from everything I have read

Reliability is going to huge factor in the early races...they fly away to Aus then straight to Malaysia, they can't do much on the cars that far away from base a week apart....then the Middle East where overheating might be a bigger issue. Red Bull could be a way back before the European season and upgrades etc etc

We have a small button bet, can someone take a look at Magnusson each way for the first races?

McClaren looks mighty reliable and just off the Mercedes pace, and Magnusson has been quick, done loads of laps

My cousin, Phil Prew, is McLaren Chief Engineer (google to confirm). Can't give much away to me but sounded really smug a week ago pre Jerez at a family do

Because Magnusson is unknown could be very inefficently priced for a an each way Australai banzai

BMU is 10/1 for Australia and 1/5 odds for the each way, top three.

He was v bullish McLaren too. Might buy points if spreads are sensible when they come out and cheap enough.

Rosberg at 8/1 is too big for Aus - small arb on the machine too.

Like Magnusson at the price too.

Could be a fun season.

He also said something about trying to get a price that Hamilton runs out of fuel sometime ;-)

We have Button already at 12/1 for the championship.  Put up Magnusson e/w at 20/1 too to tumbleweed.

Think Vettel was still about 5/4 at the time.  He isn't anymore.  Maybe should just have laid him.

I'm a little disappointed not to see Spain and Gibraltar in the same group.

They were kept apart by UEFA.

One of two possible pairings that were kept apart

"While they will be kept separate from Spain because of political reasons "

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26265137

Spoilsports. I was hoping for a Spanish forfeit at some stage.

I'll just have to funk for them both to qualify for the finals now.

so funny the 2 draws that they made sure couldnt happen would of happened

gib should of been in Spain's group and Armenia should of been in Azerbaijan's group

Evening Mr Omaha Bink.

Tomorrow the Dubai tennis starts. It is played on a hard court and Djokovic usually does well here. In last years final he defeated Berdych and it is Berdych that I think we should back. He won an indoor tournament a couple of weeks ago, his first win in over a year, and he looked really solid on his service. He has the weaker opponents in his half of the draw, with his main rival being Del Potro, and he comfortably beat him a fortnight ago.

I am still a huge Djokovic fan but I can't back him at odds on over 3 set matches so I think we should back Berdych each way.

Suggest £15 e/w Berdych @ 6-1 with Ladbrokes 1/3rd odds 1,2.

Sprinter Sacre being out of the Festival is great news for Lyreen Legend in the Ryan Air...in fact it's great news for lots of Ryan Air horses.

wouldn't one of the firms going 5-1 but 1/2 odds 1,2 be slightly better?
