Just thinking out aloud, but couldn't Fred get around the problem of lurkers by allowing tipsters to mass pm 10 or 20 "friends" with their selection, before making it public knowledge about 30 minutes later.

Speaking for myself, I don't back a large number of the recommendations that come on here. Even the milkman, as talented and prolific as he is, only gets the occasional flutter from me. This is largely due to my ignorance of horse-racing, and unwillingness to bet on football. However, I do understand that even the slightest bit of interest from me, might have a substantial effect on the prices in certain illiquid markets (esp. cycling). And my pockets aren't nearly as deep as some of the punters on here.

What I'm getting at, is that this is Tikay's thread, and he should be getting the pick of the prices after the original tipster has taken his fill. It does grind my gears a bit that a genuinely brilliant concept like TfT risks being torpedoed by a handful of anonymous queue-jumpers who hijack potentially profitable (and definitely fun) TfT tips. Indeed, I would be interested to know how many bets do not get placed because the price has disappeared by the time Tikay gets to reading them.

A system whereby Fred gets first dibs, then 10/20 "friends" ... then the rest ... would IMO promote a fairer, more profitable system. And the strength of tips might also improve due to the competition to be on someone's "friends" list. Sounds like a win-win situation for all those who actively contribute.

Anyway, just thinking out aloud. I'm drunk. Time for bed.
PS. Tal's post on Oscar dresses is why I love this thread. Cate should have worn Gucci.

Cate Blanchett looking radiant in...

Armani Sad

Yep, Armani Privé dress. High neck and a cap sleeve.

We were right at least that she went simple, elegant and long of line. It's not a patch on her famous (in fashion at least) 2005 Valentino dress, though.

Would have been a fun one to get a bob or two out of Mr Power.

Daily Report

Loss on Month -£71.38

Outstanding Bets £3854.07

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aia1Hxq-NDNWdFk3UmlTSXMzTjRBTVNfOWRndVFsZHc&usp=drive_web#gid=22

One loss taken yesterday, £20 on a NR for Cheltenham, Anafilet which was missed a couple of months ago when it withdrew

I had a look for the Munster Football Championship, but from what I can tell it doesn't conclude til July? Our bet is at 10/11! Perhaps someone can clarify if I am looking at the right thing?

In the Cape Town cricket its a mixed bag. Australia declared overnight after yesterday's late rain, and the immediate signs in practice were that the cloud cover and cooler temperatures were aiding swing. Good news for the Australia win bet - SA currently 42-1, but some bad fortune for the Lyon bowler bet because the conditions of the previous two days -sunny, hot etc were ideal to wear the pitch for him and not suit the seamers

Yesterday's football saw Palace gain a point in Wales. Reasonable enough news for the top half and handicap bets, bad news for the finish bottom bet. That position seems to be between Cardiff and Fulham

Paulinho did not score for Spurs.

Bale did not score for Real Madrid on Saturday

The latest round of La Liga saw Atletico get a point versus Real and Villareal draw 1-1 at home to Betis

Bilbao, who won 4-0 on Friday are a sole realistic, and just realistic at that, hope of catching A Madrid in the non big-two market, 11 points behind currently

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/spanish-la-liga/table

In Serie A, monitoring Napoli and Fiorentina, Napoli drew away to Livorno and Fiorentina lost at home to Lazio. Neither helpful for our bets

Napoli currently third so in the e/w spot we require, Fiorentina some distance away in 4th outside the 3rd or 2nd place we need

I dont know much about Dancing on ice (the ice is thankful) but it appears our bet Hayley Tramodol is in the final 3. we have £40 at 4-1 and she is currently 5/1 second favourite of three behind a 2/7 shot headed to the final

F1 pre-season testing concluded in Bahrain with Hamilton topping the time sheets. Next stop, Melbourne

South Africa now 43/2, though Mr Lyon has yet to bowl an over.

At least the two wickets taken went to different bowlers, so that's a plus.

It is a 2 horse race, see.....

The logic was that 11/10 & 10/11 were way too big for Cork.

Lyon bowling!!!!

Great news. He'll have an attacking field I assume, & get knocked about a bit, but that's the logic.

It was nice to see Fergie at the Oscars, but he was less than forthcoming with his opinions on some of the nominated films.

When asked about a man who relinquishes control of his crew and is lost at sea for 90 minutes, he said he refused to discuss David Moyes.

When asked about a tale of unspeakable greed, immoral syphoning of funds & ill-sought affluence, he said he refused to discuss the Glazers.

When asked about two people hopelessly spiralling in vast expanse of nothingness, he said he refused to discuss United's midfield.

When asked about a man who is taken from his previous home & won't be silenced about his unhappiness, he said he refused to discuss RVP.

For the snookerers, Ronnie is 13/8 to win the world champo, and 7/2 to make the highest break. Given he's liable to get to the final and bangs in maximums for fun these days, is there any valoo in the latter price?

It's a coin toss as to whether there'll be a max at the tournament and I doubt he'd be any bigger than 7/2 to make a 147 if prices were requested.

anyone know what the scoring system for dancing on ice final is?  viewers vote/panel vote?  Views on the current prices given Ray being in the vote off last night?  My personal view is that surely rays supporters will come out to vote after the shock of him being in the pllay off this week and that 1/3 Ray looks reasonably big and an over reaction to last night
