Daily Report

Profit on Month £214.58

Outstanding Bets £2672.70

Free bets £25 Betfred

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aia1Hxq-NDNWdFk3UmlTSXMzTjRBTVNfOWRndVFsZHc&usp=drive_web#gid=24

A loss of £22 yesterday. As we heard from our new NBA Correspondent, the Heat beat the Pacers 102-90 to comfortably go over the points spread. During the course of the game Lebron James went past Michael Jordan for the most play-off games with 25+ points 5+r and 5+a. I heard him described last night as ""He's the greatest small forward who's ever played this game."

Miami now lead Indiana 3-1, needing one more win to reach the final and hit one half of our "finalists bet" and put the Lebron MVP bet firmly in play

In baseball yesterday, the Royals lost, but so did the Tigers. In the East the Orioles, Yankees and Blue Jays all won, and its shaping up to be quite the season long sweat on a couple of those bets. The Yankees beat one of the NL's best teams the Cardinals in the 12th inning yesterday

In cricket its likely that the rain will wash out hopes of too many English results in this round of LVCC games. I note that Laurie Evans is not playing for Warwickshire, whether dropped or injured I do not know but we've certainly had a very slow start on all our player season bets actross the counties

In Tennis, Ferrer begins today against Sisjling, and the 3rd seed Wawrinka got knocked out yesterday in Murray's quarter, and we also have Hanescu against Monfils

The WSOP starts today and over on the fantasy thread there are mumblings that one of our bets Schemion might not be vegas bound to play much at all this summer

Meanwhile we are apparently within 48 hours of a thread winner, with Pochettino's appointment at a team that no doubt will keep all its best players having never lost one to a bigger club, as his current team seem to be about to do this summer

It was calm and serene yesterday as Brazil's world cup squad arrived at their training camp.

A post bank holiday quiz

where is this, and why in the context of yesterday's sporting action is it significant?

current ground pictured derelict in 1996, before they climbed up from crowds of 80 to 6 promotions in ten years

Smart stand too! I watched the game yesterday and the story of the vice chairman is amazing.

Glamorgan have signed West Indian all-rounder Darren Sammy for the NatWest T20 Blast, after receiving clearance from West Indies Cricket Board and visa approval.

one hopes he is rather more motivated than he was in the IPL...

The Scottish Championship should be tough next season.

three of the (better include the word arguably) biggest Scottish clubs are in the second tier. probably a lot more competitive than the SPL?

Rangers are 1/5f from Hearts (7/2) & Hibs (11/2).

Hearts are skint? Are Rangers too short and is there any value in Hibs?

They are all too short in that list with about 122% just in the first three in the betting if those prices are correct.

Just guessing but I reckon they were betting 1/5 7/2 the front two which is bad enough anyway and then put Hibs  into the list after their play off loss and didn't alter any of the other prices.

How does a club sign a player - presumably one on a pretty penny - when it hasn't sorted out the manager yet?

Rio Ferdinand reported to be close to signing for spurs. Looking forward to seeing him and Dawson playing the high line next season...

potty looks very likely to be going to spurs now, he is talking to levy. with him going its going to be likely the squad is going to get broken up
with lallana and shaw already likely to go add into that lovern schneiderlin and ward-prowse

with intrest also going to be in chambers clyne rodrigeous and rameriez

the saints could easy be losing 6+ of the squad that got them up the table last year
and its going to be hard to attract players of a quailty to a "selling club"

the 2.25 for finishing in bottom half looks a good bet
as does the 15.0 for relegation even 10.0 looks value to me

maybe i am just being a pessimist but i would recommend £10 on both

I hold a different view and I don’t think we should be getting carried away opposing Saints.

The club is on a solid financial footing. To be clear, the money has not left the club. Cortese ran the show but was never ever the money man. The money is Swiss and always has been since Markus Liebherr purchased the club in 2009. Markus Liebherr passed away in 2010 but the money did not dry up – Saints have spent considerably since that point and there is no reason to think that is going to suddenly stop. Markus’s daughter – Katherina holds the purse strings as she has done for the last 4 years. I am sure she will probably look to sell the club at some point in the future as it was her father’s passion, not hers, but that does not mean she isn’t ambitious and wants to succeed with the club.

As for players – everybody is signed up to long term contracts. Lallana and Shaw will leave but, as is proving at the moment, the deal will be hard fought as Saints are the ones holding all the cards. I do not see many, if any, other players of importance leaving. There is no unrest at the club – we had a fantastic season and have an excellent squad. Taking Lallana out of the squad is a blow but he is one player and will be replaced.

It will be a transition this Summer with a new manager but it’s far from time to panic. 14’s seemed a fair bet, not interested in anything below that.

I think the thing to remember about the EPL next season is, with the exception of Burnley, they are no 'budget' clubs left as Norwich, Cardiff and Fulham have gone.  Replaced by Leicester and QPR who are both heavy hitters financially compared to the teams going down.  The bottom 10 this year is going to be very tight and Soton have to be included in that discussion now.  Therefore any team in that group at 14/1 just has to be a bet to go down.

Great post Mark, good balance there.  There is a lot of distance between feast & famine, & Southampton won't be the worst team in the EPL. I'll take a well-managed & organised club (see also Arsenal) over the likes of QPR &, say, Sunderland, any day.
