Meanwhile, in the NBA thing, Heat lead Pacers 84-48 with 4 minutes remaining in the third quarter. I think this is a good thing.

Just need the spurs to win tomorrow then the spurs win the title and parker mvp and we have had it right off.  Nearly there!

That's a great portfolio we have there, amazing foresight and value.

Nice one Arbboy.

Morning Mr T2.

The French open tennis has been a bit dull so far, with few upsets. However that could be about to change as the fancied players are now all playing people with 2 wins under their belts. There are also question marks over health, age, and form for a lot of the top players. Not to mention new additions to their families.

I will be against the angry Scot later, but first up I think Karlovic should be favourite against Anderson in a late morning match. His form recently on clay is far superior and we get 6/4.

Suggest £20 Karlovic @ 6/4 with Betvictor.

You could get 2.74 on Betfair just now or lay Anderson at 1.58 if you can't get it.

Edit.  That didn't last long, power of Hector.

Just seen the weights for tomorrow's fight. Groves going for handspeed over resilience?

Coming in that far under is generally not a positive.

Usually would agree but he's not been sat in a sauna to then land that far under. Looking at his physique this looks very much like his gameplan. If he has the stamina to go with his clearly increased speed advantage this will be a tough night for Froch IMO.

It's possible for an athlete to maintain muscle mass and drop those pounds by a lack of fluid. He would look shredded but it would weaken his endurance abilities on fight night.

Should prob discuss this more on the boxing thread, but it's a subject I find fascinating. Gatti once gained something like a stone and a half after the weigh in. Then there was the farce where De La Hoya couldn't gain the weight he wanted and got clobbered by Pacquiao. Groves could be in the ring eight pounds heavier tomorrow night, but his body will have been through torture to get there.

There's been medical research on the effects of such extreme dehydration and it makes a huge difference to the fluid levels around the brain, which is obviously a big deal when some beefy bloke is throwing an eight ounce glove in your face.

Of course, you could always do what Floyd did and pay half a million to keep an extra couple of pounds rather than make the weight...

the ibf have a another weigh in today at some stage - cant be more than 10lbs over the limit

Yes but then he would have landed on 12st. I doubt that is what happened.
