It is impossible to give team orders when you have two number one drivers fighting for the championship

team orders only work when you have a clear number 2 driver, who is asked to give way..eg massa to alonso quite often at ferrari in recent years

the team was naive, as comments subsequent to the race realised

Hamilton, just like Vettel when he ignored the multi 21 order in Malaysia (much more clear cut than this instance) knows that the power lies with the driver if they are talented enough, not the team

you can't compare it to a standard employee/employer relationship. for a start complying with team orders won't be in their contracts.

Well let me tell you this.

He will never work for me.

why don't you tell us about the 7.05 at Windsor last night?

Yikes.

THE most reliable source, only sends me stuff about once every 3 months, sends me a horse. 9 runner race. I generally have £25 EW or even £50 EW on his stuff. He is GOOD.

5/1. EW.

Am busy, & my PC is loaded up with poker tables, so I used the I-pad.

Price has gone, 4/1 now. Can't possibly take 4/1 about a tip at 5/1. I'm disciplined. Forget it.

OK, I'll just have £10 EW for interest.

Place the bet, the message pops up "YOUR BET IS PLACED, £200 STAKED".

What? £200? WHAT?

Doubt I've had £200 on a horse in my entire life. Sheesh.

Go for an afternoon nap, & annoyingly an incoming text wakes me up. Bastard. "Bloody non-runners". Thanks mate.

Eh? Go to Oddschecker - THREE non-runners, so it's now a 6 runner race, I'm on EW, & the price I took was bad. AND there will be a 50p in the £ Rule 4.

Watch the race.

Jockey goes straight for the rails, in a nice position. Good so far.

Suddenly, after barely a furlong, the wonder horse shoots clear, 5 or 6 lengths. Gooder.

But 2f out, he's not running on, & the pack is closing.

One horse gets to his flanks at the furlong pole. And continues to get closer & closer. With 50 yards to go it's neck & neck, my horse has shot his bolt.

Now the result.

First was number.......

Guess this would work better in the days before the internet Wink

It's a tikay misclick story. There is no use in trying to create suspense.

No reason not to go in again on the Weld Offer tommorow. Two heats which are automatic plays with the offer

http://www.oddschecker.com/horse-racing-betting/2014-07-29-galway/18:05/winner

SUGGEST £25 TOGETHER FOREVER when lads price up at around 9am, race looks like being 6/4 the Weld thing and ours and at least 8's bar. There are a few more unknowns from good stables in this tbf but still worth doing.

http://www.oddschecker.com/horse-racing-betting/2014-07-29-galway/20:15/winner

SUGGEST £25 RIGHTWAY when lads price up at around 9am, Weld thing looks like being around 4/7. Rightway had two good runs for Oxx who is back in form and this looks a contest lacking depth.

Much stronger on the 8.15 as it looks hard for any of the newcomers to run well. 6.05 still worth doing though.

bumping this but the prices look crap at laddies this morning any thoughts?

A sad postscript to this.

I just tried to have 2 bets, each for £10 EW, on a race at Goodwood, which would be a fairly solid & liquid market I assume.

Both bets rejected "STAKE TOO LARGE".

I managed just £5ew on both.

I don't recall them restricting me before, except with really cranky bets in thin markets.

ICC ban Moeen from wearing political wristbands. Story is that the ECB had given him permission, on the basis that they were humanitarian, rather than political.

A correct, & good, decision, imo.

1) It was clearly against the rules.

2) Allow that, & where does it end? Especially given that TV coverage makes it such a good tool. I'b be quite surprised if Sky Sports, who pay plenty for the TV rights, were happy about it either. It all becomes so exploitable.

Supporting participants in a conflict is wrong, unless you have it embroidered on your shirt.

England are promoting "Help for Heroes" today at the Test Match.

This sums up the ground quite well

James Moore ‏@Jamesracing1  35s
Current stick readings Goodwood, 7.8 straight,8.8 round,so you want a fast ground horse that want's to finish on slow ground.Wp Shameless.

That ground will be a lot quicker by mid-afternoon though won't it?

No idea

Given up trying to second guess the ground at certain places, Goodwood being one of the main ones.

Only way to have a better idea is to check the times after the first few races.

GOODTOSOFTWOOD Day 1

1.55 18 runners. e/w 1/4 1,2,34 available, 7-1 the field

5 places available with Coral

almost an overbroke book

http://www.oddschecker.com/horse-racing-betting/goodwood/13:55/winner

2.30 8 runners e/w 1/4 1,2,3 available

an odds on favourite, five of the 8 at 16-1 or above

lovely each-way race, no, for the horses around 5-1 to 10-1?

http://www.oddschecker.com/horse-racing-betting/goodwood/14:30/winner

3.05 8 runners e/w 1/4 1,2,3 available

race has cut up with two non-runners

five of the eight runners are 10-1 and above...

http://www.oddschecker.com/horse-racing-betting/goodwood/15:05/winner

3.40 14 runners 1/4 1,2,3 generally

looks one of the tougher ones but 12 of the 14 runners are 10-1+

http://www.oddschecker.com/horse-racing-betting/goodwood/15:40/winner

4.15 15 runners which is a shame so 1/4 1,2,3

http://www.oddschecker.com/horse-racing-betting/goodwood/16:15/winner

4.50 this is more like it. 19 runners 1/4 1,2,3,4

A 4-1 favourite, 8-1 bar and 16 of the 19 10-1 and up...

http://www.oddschecker.com/horse-racing-betting/goodwood/16:50/winner

5.20 24 runners, 5 places each-way

10-1 the field

http://www.oddschecker.com/horse-racing-betting/goodwood/17:20/winner

it feels like we should be busy with some of this value, does anyone want to offer anything?

I was going to put some up this week, but i have subbed to Neils site this week (As dont have the time to look really) so dont want to copy anything across (incidentally i did fancy one of the ones he has put up already)

Obvious as you say which races have the right shape would definitely want to be avoiding the 3.40 though with 14 runners
