She should retire hurt which will void the set betting market.

i hope not while there is a chance i might get away with this and finally get my roll up

She often carries on despite looking at death's door.

The only way she will win this is if Peng breaks a leg.

Cheesy

I feel worse about losing his money than I do about losing mine.
I don't think Bartoli can retire now.

How do these WTA events make any money?

There's never more than one man and his dog in the crowd.

Doubt the tv figures are much higher!

Must cost a fortune to organise and provide prize money for just one event.

I've often wondered that.
I think the Dubai and Qatar events are just vanity projects for the local royals who can afford to pay for them but very few events seem to get decent size crowds.

Sponsorship.

Companies spend fortunes backing tennis tournaments. There's so much TV coverage, that it commercially it makes sense for companies to back tournaments all over the world.

Tournaments themselves are also tasked with finding the sponsorship. If they can't, they go.

A company recently paid £50m for the rights to provide official scores from WTA tournaments for 3 years.
