Said it before and il say it again, if more than one "umpires call" is on an lbw then it should be not out, as clearly there is significant doubt and should favour batsmen.

I agree. It's changed the balance too far the other way. Bell in particular was unlucky today. He got a massive stride in, it was Umpires call on where it pitched and Umpires call on the impact on the stumps and DRS did not allow for any spin on predictive path. It had 8 feet to travel and it wouldn't spin to miss the stumps?

very harsh.

With that distance it can still swing/drift a little too. The umpires need to start giving more not out and be prepared to be proved wrong on challenge, not the other way round

Summary.

We are only £118 down now, & have £250 in unsettled bets included in that loss.

The only move yesterday was the Tighty Cricket Special winning, & doing so with the grandest of sweats. Well done Tighty.

Our Ladies Golf wager has not begun too well, Caroline is +2, with the leader @ -6, though the leading pack are all bunched around -2 & -3. The cut after Day Two will be top 70 & ties, & we are just inside that after Day One. We had very much the worst of the draw yesterday, going out @ 2pm, & from the 10th tee, with the weather & conditions favouring the early starters. A good day today & we are in with a chance, a bad day & that'll be that.

We have a Mondy footie bet lined up for Sunday, over 2.5 goals needed in Newc v Liverpool.

The Barnet bet has a very important game tonight, home to hot-pots Torquay. We really need Torquay to win this, & if they do, we have a great chance.

Dubai stuck up a great Basketball bet, but I need to figure out how to implement.

Tomorrow is the month end, & we'll close the March account on Sunday morning.

Mere keeps a spreadsheet for us, much easier to read, & probably more accurate.

It records every bet, & also breaks it down into who tipped what, & profit or loss via individual sports.

Football is easily our most profitable medium do far. (Click "Sports" to see).

Ms Hedwall was -2 through twelve holes when i went to bed but contrived to bogey four of the last six holes to finish round one with a 74(+2).

C & D, Ground to suit the weight being carried, low quality field. Its a value punt.

I just wanted to put something up at a decent price in this thread Smiley

Yes, I eventually had to retire to bed, & she was going along nicely then, so a bit disappointing to see how she finished.

Never mind, today is another day, & she might get it back together.

Do you ever abstain from placing a bet on tips, apart from really short odds ones that require a larger bet to pay off?

Yes, frequently.

We can't just do "tips" willy-nilly, there needs to be some logic, & value. Where possible, I prefer some input from the Elders, too. and some of the Elders get very cross with me if I step out of line, usually AFTER I have done it, too, marv.

There is no chance I'll punt anything where someone just says "my mate told me this one is trying today" or that sort of nonsense, though.

Back in the day, a mate of mine, somewhat gullible by nature, rung me up to give me a "hot tip".

I asked the reasoning, he told me "I know one of the stable lads, he told me this one is trying today".

The race was the Epsom Derby.

The slight problem with the thread is saying "no thanks" without offending the tipper. I have to adopt Cos style diplomacy in such cases. Thats new Cos, not old Cos.

I'm a sicko.

£100 train journey.

£125 hotel room.

£20 ticket.

I'm on my way to Underhill to see Barnet v Torquay. (Another ground off the list I suppose)

Come on you Gulls! (Might get to see Helen Chamberlain too)

The first doesn't always imply the other. If this is a general tipping thread that's great, if you're planning on winning/maxing your winnings you do need to be more selective sometimes, imo. Not every tip is bad, but not every tip is gold either.
