Neil/Bad Beat

I know you feel a bit discouraged at a snarky reception in places, but when you have the time I'd like to hear your thoughts on the football betting on here

No rush. Next half an hour will do

Bradford    40    -7    40

Plymouth    40    -16    40

Barnet    39    -24    39

Macclesfield 40    -17    36

Hereford 40       -23   35

We know Barnet are in a brutal run of games that started today

What we are rooting for, as well, is a result or two from Macc or Hereford

Can't remember how much I had on the Barnet coup or who it's with. I hope it was a lot Smiley

One in tonights boxing.

Brian Rose to win by decision/technical decision @ 6/4 with Lads, PP, Sky

He is fighting Max Maxwell who stopped him in their first fight two years ago although there were excuses for Rose on that occasion as his head wasn't right due to his previous opponent collapsing and ending up in a coma although he has since made a full recovery.  Rose has since kicked on from them and put his demons behind him by winning 4 in a row and comfortably outpointing Prince Arron to win the British title (despite what one jusdge thought).  Rose is not a big puncher though and of his 18 wins only 5 have come by KO/TKO.  Maxwell on the other hand isn't much more than a journey man with a 15-10-3 record and only 3 of his wins coming by KO/TKO.  Of his 10 defeats he has only been stopped twice and both of those have been in the first round when he has been caught cold, he has proven to be pretty durable otherwise.  Given Rose was KO'd in their first fight I imagine he will be pretty circumspect in the opening round.  I expect Rose to box his way to a wide UD.

Thanks Bazza.

Decided to have £25 on this, & have managed - just - to beat the price you gave, though after commission, it is probably quite similar.

Cost me a lot of money last week.

Terrible form in the league.

Hope the get gubbed big time and wouldn't bet on them with Craig Whytes money.

Sandy

Not sure what that means, Sandy, can you enlarge upon it, please?

Hope that helps.

Tosser.

its hardly me being a wise guy going against a 1-5 shot (or shorter) but bilbao rarely rest outfield players but according to graham hunter on twitter (very good source) they will tonight as there 11 players have played 45+ games already this season.

This +.

We have some terrific Elders on here, but the occasional input from Neil cannot be anything but good for those of us trying to learn the ropes. Neil & Camel, of course, have worked, pokered, & gambled together longer than many of this thread have been born. Excluding Mere, Ralphy, & I, of course.....

It's a 100% "no-flame" thread, & civil debate is good.

I'd be interested to know, for example, why that horse bet today was so bad - the ew portion, I mean. The result, of course, is irrelevant.

Thanks Mr HP. Too late now, I pre-ejaculated.

It can hardly be worse than the 3-7 bomb we had on Leeds, though I would not bet on it. Oh, wait.....

On Barnet, their goal difference is very poor, almost a point value for the bet really and it could get worse on tuesday when they play Swindon (fingers crossed).

Their game against Hereford will play a big part in deciding the bottom two.

Think it will go right to the last day of the season.

It's a crazy big price so I don't think anyone can complain too much. I was just about to say that you could get 22/1 DNB on Betfair but it doesn't matter now.

22/1 really? thats nuts. You should have backed that Tikay. I hate DNB, such a girls bet.

It means  if they'd have beat a bottom 2 side at home having gone 1 up i'd have won a lot of money. They conceded in injury time. I hate them and couldn't trust them.

Seems they play best in Europe.

Maybe a top team will encourage them to perform and 22 will prove good but i hope the get beat 22-0 at least.

Speculative £20 value punt for you.

Atl Bilbao to beat Barcelona tonight at 22/1 with Victor.

Plenty going against Bilbao in that they played on Thursday, but that game was a fine performance and win against Schalke.
Barca also had a very tough game against Milan on weds.

They drew with Barca earlier in the season and have had plenty of good results at home and away and in Europe.

They are playing great football as anyone who watched them demolish Utd will at est to.

One of only 3 sides in la liga who could on their day beat Barca at the nou camp and that day would come a significant amount less than once out of 22 in my opinion (i know i'll get ripped for the last part....)

At 22/1, for £20....... I'm gonna follow the man in form!

Will execute shortly. (The bet, or if it bombs badly, you.......)

PS - Betting against Barca? Bonkers! But as you say, this bet could come off more than once in 22. We shall see.

i might have used up my good luck tbh. Had a decent 9/4 winner today that went off at 6/5 and then a 25/1 that hacked up that i really wanted to post on here but bottled it for fear of looking like chancer.

I wouldn't say you messed up, you got a better price than the recommended bet after all. It's just that the EV of the 22/1 DNB is slightly bigger than the EV of the 24/1 outright. But you obviously can't be expected to research all the different possible better permutations regarding all the bets recommended to you. We're supposed to do the legwork, you're just the benevolent sugar daddy:)
Anyway, I think it's still a good bet @ 24/1 as the price is so huge. It's priced like Germany at home to Armenia or something. I simply can't believe there can be that much difference in ability between 2 top flight Spanish sides (regardless of team selections).
