Blame it on the weatherman

I'm blaming MANTIS, personally.

I think we should switch the position on the bingham hendry bet.

Thanks Tom.

Any other views on this? I really don't know enough to state an opinion.

Ref Crolla boxing bet.
Crolla must win before the end of round 12 for the bet to be a winner.

Contrived results all possible (captains agree on a target for the team chasing last that gives both sides a chance to win, though whether the team having to chase would want to is the question)

16 points for a win!

(Points system

The county championship works on a points system, the winner being the team with most points in the first division. The points are currently awarded as follows:

Win: 16 points + bonus points.
Tie: 8 points + bonus points.
Draw: 3 points + bonus points.
Loss: Bonus points.

Bonus points are collected for batting and bowling. These points can only be obtained from the first 110 overs of each team's first innings.[8] The bonus points are retained regardless of the outcome of the match.

    * Batting

    200-249 runs: 1 point
    250-299 runs: 2 points
    300-349 runs: 3 points
    350-399 runs: 4 points
    400+ runs: 5 points

    * Bowling

    3-5 wickets taken: 1 point
    6-8 wickets taken: 2 points
    9-10 wickets taken: 3 points )

Still possible to get uncontrived results too. Wickets have fallen quickly in all 4 games, so we need sufficient play to get a majority of the 200 overs left in each game in

It's bright and sunny in London, but the forecast is worse for later

I liked the sound of redarmi's 64 bet back both teams idea

TY TY. Fairly obvious really, I suppose. So ANY win bar a points win, yes?

Thanks Tighty, on the cricket update. Anything can happen.

As to the next round of County Cricket matches, yes please, stick up your selections, & let the lads come up with the betting strategy.

Best price now for Werder Bremen is 11/5, lovely lovely value with the price you got. Hope that comes flying in.

Thanks, & yes, we got an exceptional price.

This "value" thing still confuses me slightly. I gather that if we "get the value" every time, then we will be a winner in the long-term. But then someone pops up & says "you can't eat value". Fortunately, I'm on a diet at the mo.

Going into the fourth, and so probably final, quarter, Collingwood have increased their lead, it is now 13.11 (89) - 8.8 (56).

We may struggle to hang on here.

97-73

Winner.

Sandy

In truth it was a  'read the right thing at the right time'  bet. It looked bad after the first qtr but I guess the last qtr shows the value of big starts as Collingwood were happy to run it down being so far in front. I think we got about 7 minutes off the clock in the 4th without a point which was a bonus.

Sorry for the losing bet. I intend to make amends by spending the afternoon on bended knees praying for a Macclesfield win. I would include Hereford in my prayers but I am sure the presence there of Ronnie Radford in the crowd will inspire them to victory. Unless of course he is dead!

Lol, you I like.

Never ever say "sorry" on this thread for losing bets. They are inevitable, like outdraws or coolers in poker.

Get us that Macclesfield win, & we'll settle for that.

If you remember Ronnie Radford, you must be older than I thought, that was a bit back!

Ronnie is indeed still alive, he's 68, & lives in what used to be (not now) a pit village in South Yorkshire, "South Elmsall".

It was in 1972 that he scored the goal in the FA Cup v Newcastle United. Epic scenes, & John Motson, I vividly recall, got all excited. That was over 40 years ago!

Incidentally, I am assuming, because the match was "away", that the ground pictured is St James Park, Newcastle. If so, wow, times have changed.

No the match was at Edgar Street.

At the far end of the picture you can see the unique and very charismatic convex home terrace, that exists to this day.

Aston Villa v Sunderland today.........I can't see Villa winning this one as Martin O'neill will want to come away with something from here.  Seeing as this is my first contribution regarding a bet on this thread, how about a reasonably safe......

Sunderland to win DNB @ 13/8 with Bet365?

Worth a cheeky £20?

http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/premier-league/aston-villa-v-sunderland/draw-no-bet

Villa have only managed to win 1 in their last 8 at home by my reckoning.
