v good guys, well played

Surrey batted like drunken men on a stag do funeral
yesterday wasn't it?

not the best of taste.
me or u? I wasnt joking. They're playing like they just came back from a big emotional upheaval where cricket is far from their thoughts. Which they have. Sure they had a few beers and haven't prepared properly for this game, who would?

sorry this is a pretty horrible post

well done on the winners today lads very good stuff
In case you're in need of counselling after reading my post, I wasn't being flippant, I was pointing out/agreeing that the Surrey players were not playing at 100% but to compare the reason for their sluggishness to being on the lash at a stag do wasn't appropriate. I wasn't making light of the situation, I've met Matthew Maynard on a number of occassions and I wouldn't do such a thing anyway. Having said that, I'm amazed u get through the day if ur horrified at that post

Daily Report, as @ 06:45, Friday July 6th

Fred made a couple of bets on the T20 cricket that got home by different routes. Nice work by Dubai and MajorMajor.

In golf, Fred missed a bet on "no holes in one" because he thought "Le Golf National" was in America and he had rather more time to place the bet than was actually the case. There were no aces today.

Two other each-way tips for the golf were also not taken-up. Of these Jonathan Byrd has had a decent start lying one shot off the lead.

At Wimbledon, Serena Williams beat Victoria Azarenka in two sets serving 24 aces. Fred hasn't backed her.

What's coming up?

Wimbledon continues with the men's semi-finals. Djokovic and Murray are big favourites to beat Federer and Tsonga respectively.

A bumper weekend of televised Super 15 Rugby starts with the Chiefs versus Crusaders at 8:30am.

The televised Super League rugby match is Leeds versus Hull.

The 6-red snooker in Thailand reaches the quarter-finals.

There's T20 cricket.

The golf continues.

The Tour De France continues.

The build-up to the British Grand Prix at Silverstone continues.

Not a complete recommendation - would want Tighty and co to post their thoughts, but Fernando Alonso for Fastest Lap during the race at a best priced 12/1 w/365 or Ladbrokes could be one for interest for this weekend?

This will be the 3rd F1 race since the layout was changed and Alonso has held the fastest lap for the previous 2 years. Add onto that his form and that he is the WDC leader...

On the other hand, I don't know whether Ferrari are bringing upgrades like the rest of the big teams or whether the Ferrari will be good at Silverstone this year.

At 12/1 though, would have a cheeky £10.

Ugh

would completely avoid fastest lap bets.

Complete lottery with tyre wear this year. Think we've had multiple fastest lap winners from teams as bizarre as Sauber this year

Must be better F1 bets than that mate.

Tomorrow, if the rain stops, Federer finally plays a reasonable player who is not older than him. Youznhy has never beaten Federer and I am not going to waste my time trying to justify betting on him to do so this time. At 6-1 I do not know if it is value either. I do know that Federer is not as good as he used to be and that is enough for me to risk my money but not Fred's.

By the way, total goals for Euro 2012 was 76 - would have been an excellent sweat.

And the site being down cost Fred an easy rugby league win last night - can we sue?

P.S thanks for whoever gave the Kerber tennis tip, and the speed that Mr Novice put Fred's cash on it was the clincher.

I think our cunning plan has come to fruition.
Federer has definitely got an opponent that could beat him today. Smiley

Did u see the squad announed for the Olympic footy by Brazil yesterday? Amazing line-up including Hulk, Neymar and Pato up front, plus a bit of know how at the back with Marcelo and Thiago Silva, Madrid and Milan players, Silva recently the subject of a near £40m bid from PSG. They're 9/4 favourites with PP.

Looking through the field, while we won't know many of the players in the smaller teams, most of them can't win. 16 runners, Brazil face New Zealand, Belarus and Egypt (doesn't look scary).  Second faves Spain have also named a strong squad and look a danger, they face Japan, Honduras and Morocco. I'm not overly excited by GB's squad, we face Uruguay, who could be dark horses (senior team are south american champs, could name strong squad) Senegal and UAE, and the other group doesn't look much cop, Mexico, North Korea, Gabon and Switzerland.

Here's the full Brazil squad, looks a class above the others:

Goalkeepers: Rafael Cabral (Santos), Neto (Fiorentina)

Defenders: Marcelo (Real Madrid), Rafael (Manchester United), Danilo (Porto), Alex Sandro (Porto), Thiago Silva (AC Milan), Juan (Inter Milan), Bruno Uvini (Sao Paulo)

Midfielders: Romulo (Vasco da Gama), Ganso (Santos), Oscar (Internacional), Sandro (Tottenham Hotspur), Lucas (Sao Paulo)

Forwards: Neymar (Santos), Alexandre Pato (AC Milan), Leandro Damiao (Internacional), Hulk (Porto).

Replacements: Marquinhos (Corinthians), Giuliano (Dniepr/UKR), Cassemiro (Sao Paulo), Gabriel (AC Milan/ITA)

Thoughts on backing the boys from Brazil?

Looks very strong

As you say, the main dangers must be

Spain squad: David De Gea (Manchester United), Diego Marino (Villarreal), Joel Robles (Atletico Madrid); Jordi Alba (Valencia/Barcelona), Cesar Azpilicueta (Marseilles), Alberto Botia (Sporting Gijón), Alvaro Dommnguez (Borussia Monchengladbach), Inigo Martinez (Real Sociedad), Javi Martmnez and Mikel San Jose (both Athletic Bilbao), Martin Montoya (Barcelona); Thiago Alcantara and Cristian Tello (both Barcelona), Ander Herrera (Athletic Bilbao), Isco (Malaga), Koke (Atletico Madrid), Juan Mata and Oriol Romeu (both Chelsea); Adrian Lopez (Atletico Madrid), Iker Muniain (Athletic Bilbao), Rodrigo (Benfica), Alvaro Vazquez (Espanyol).

Couldn't find a Uruguay squad, not announced yet? Saw mention that Luis Suarez may play, don't think they'll win it, tho may be worth opposing team GB.  Spain defo strong too, looks between those two, Brazil best for me, esp domestic players with massive reps like Neymar and Lucas

edit: Spain v Brazil should be final if goes as you'd imagine...

the value so to speak has gone but the swiss are certainly worth considering

this side has been aimed at this and is the basis of the u20 champions and the u21 runners up (to spain)

how they are a bigger price than gb is beyond me
