Thanks Tighty, Rhodesy. 11/2 DNB looks quite appealing, & a Max of £20 would not trouble me, that's about the right amount if we were to have a dabble.

You swerved my original question (though, to be fair, perhaps it is completely irrelevant) but what price would you think was right on Stoke, rather than Swansea, away to Chelsea?

I don't really know how else to arrive at the correct price, that is the only reason I ask.

stoke have an abysmal record away to sides in the top half of the table (a lot worse against the top four)

I'd guess at 9/2 or 5/1 for Stoke at Chelsea?

With Swansea near certain to put out a full strength team (?), a goalscorer up top and solid in all other areas, I'd say Swansea are no worse a proposition than Stoke at Chelsea currently

I am a bit perturbed by this Rylan business. Once you get past the funny stuff he comes across as a bit of a gossip queen and quite bitchy. The public don't like these traits and I would say my man Razor Ruddock will become the people's champion. It's surprising Chompy gets free reign to put these tips up after the Russian granny fiasco, and as a talent elder I should have been consulted. I mean Vince Kidd was never a gossip queen or remotely bitchy, he was just honest talent.

Yes, Vince Kidd was a very good, & gracious, loser.

Yes, that was my laboriously made point. They are, according to the League Table, much the same.

Team News?

Chelsea are without Obi & Moses (ANC), Cech & Benayoun, though I'm not sure which, if any, of those would have played.

In fact, if you gave me the choice of Stoke or Swansea at Chelsea, I'd go Swansea for their ability to keep possession and hit on the counter

Of course this is a first leg, and Swansea don't need to come out, 0-0,1-1 or a narrow loss does them fine

For the record, I have received today the Account Balance from my now defunct Stan James account.

It's been a pleasure Mr James.

So, we're fully into film awards season, with the BAFTA noms today and Oscars tomorrow.

Wit the BAFTASs Lincoln is the fav for Best Film - mostly odds on but Ladbrokes go 11/8, which seems quite the rick. However, I think it's the Laddies price which is more right - it's surely a huge black mark against a film to win the top gong when its director (and film royalty such as Spielberg at that) doesn't get nominated, so I'm looking to oppose Lincoln in this market.

Opportunity here as the disparity in opinion on Lincoln means best prices with the four bookies offering odds is a 95% book.

The problem we have is that it's quite an uninspiring list of films.

Zero Dark Thirty/Argo - USA! USA! Team America stuff. Add in question marks about ZDT being a CIA propaganda film and Argo not really being a big enough film (not seen it but by all accounts it's a good little film but doesn't shout 'award winner') and I'm opposing these.
Life of Pi - ZOMG COMPUTER TIGER. Its cod spirituality and less than stellar critical response here should mean it won't win.

Which leaves us with Les Miserables. It is a British film, the musical owes its success to being a hit in London (the original French version was a flop) and it has scale (big sets and lots of extras). Hugh Jackman is popular and well-liked here, Anne Hathaway got skinny and cut her hair for her role and it has a sprinkling of British names in the cast. It ticks my boxes.

Therefore recommend £25 on Les Mis to win Best Film at the BAFTAs at 4/1 (Hills)

Is one of the bolded bits wrong?

Oscars?

US voters for the Oscars vote for Froggy Republic all singing film over Spielberg's US President romp?

Surely not.

BAFTA's more likely that Les Mis wins than the Oscars I think

Bugger.

Scrub my previous Post then. I assumed "Oscars".

Arty stuff does my head in.
