Tal-you now have me thinking of you riding around on a trike, like jigsaws dummy from the Saw films, muttering lines from Lewis Carroll books

Yeah don't do that.

It will only exaggerate the anticlimax if and when we do meet.

Napoli just drew 1-1 with Juventus, this leaves them 6 points adrift with 11 games to go and not looking so strong now.

The big problem Napoli have is with Edinson Cavani, who despite being the top scorer in serie a hasn't scored in 7 games now

JaffaCake, the aggressive tone is a little much. Didn't you mention you wrote for the site too? Maybe that's why you're so defensive?
Jeff is playing the Gukpt ATM. Maybe we should let him concentrate on that for a few hours.
I actually played yesterday but getting things factually correct never been one of your strong points

Hi Scotty thanks for your interest. As I said, I think it's best to accept the guy's apology and move on rather than trying to look for devious reasons behind why I suggested two five pound bets, don't u agree? Safe to say I won't suggest them next week and wish I hadn't bothered this

Keep posting them Jeff.

I included de walt in the doubles staking plan with Bill Haas a couple of weeks ago and that paid handsome divvys.

I have included him this week too, and think he is currently third.

Never have been on my radar without your post. Ty.

Daily Summary, @ 0815, Saturday March 2nd

We lost £88 yesterday.

NINE bets completed, EIGHT lost, just the one (odds-on) winner. Thankfully, we kept the stakes sensible.

Days like this are inevitable, & I don't regret any of them, with the exception of the greyhound bets, which, I now realise (oh that hindsight is so wonderful) did not meet our usual criteria, except that we try & give Newbies a "free" first bet, to encourage more to join.

We need to see the damage, pain is good, so....

Bingham lost in the Snooker. This should have been in February's numbers, my mistake. -£5.

Sang-Moon Bae, golf. Missed the cut. -£5

Dr Noh, golf. Missed the cut. A misclick saved us £2.50 here. -£2.50.

Jaco Van Zyl, golf. Not 1st Round Leader. Another which should have been in yesterday's numbers. -£5

Watford. football. I don't really know how we lost this, we led until the death & were in control. One of those bets that looked too good to be true, & when that happens, they usually are. -£40

St Helens v Leeds, RL. Early on I felt (though I'm no RL expert) that St Helens had the measure of Leeds, but we got proper battered & lost by plenty, when we needed to win by 12+. -£25.

Romford Dogs. 3 backed, only the odds-on shot won @ 10/11. The Recommend was a Patent (7 bets, totsl cost £50) but we trimmed the bets to 3 x £5 singles, so at least we saved a little. -£5.50 was the net loss over the 3 bets.

Onwards & downwards.

We have very little on the cards today, just the European (?) Golf, where we are on David Howell EW (£10 EW @ 40/1) & he is doing very well so far, & was in joint 2nd after Round Two. He tees off at 11.15 this morning. (Sky Sports).

Gonzago Bulldogs are on court again tonight.

That apart, just the "season" bets in the football. We could use two goals from Suarez (Liverpool are away to Wigan) which would get our "Suarez 20 Premiership Goals" bet home.

Wolves draw last night did us no favours, it cost is £40, AND damaged our relegation chances.

If QPR lose away to Southampton today, we would be happy chappies.

Bit of a Banzai here and time for my SPOTY betting.

I was doing a little playing around and thinking who were going to be contenders this year seeing if there were any early value in the market. A name that for some reason the odds compilers are totally overlooking is Phil the power Taylor. He has been nominated twice in 2006 and lastly in 2010 where he finished 2nd. The reason he hasn't been nominated in the last two years is he has failed to win the world championship which he did this year.

Personally I'd make him leading the group behind Andy Murray purely for the fact that he has already won the world championship, has past voting pedigree and all the other contenders are a bit meh.

He is available on Youwin at 50-1 which I suggest having a tenner on If you don't bet with them then other firms have him at 40's which is still huge.

To add some context to how badly the odd setters in this market are Stan James have Joe Root at 33's and the Power at 40's

Thank you Mr Bert, we don't see you often here.

At least we do not need to rush with this one, we have 9 months yet.

Happy to hear what others say. Personally, I don't think the darts audience is big enough to win SPOTY. Mr Taylor, despite his outstanding CV, is not universally popular either, though I guess that goes for all successful people, especially sportsmen.

PS - Personally, I would never bet with YouWin, not sure why, they just feel wrong to me.

I quite like the Taylor bet.

I looked at the market a while back in an attempt to find one to topple Murray, who looks a bit of a shoe in, after getting a podium finish last year inspite of far better cases being overlooked in "their" year.

Competition looks thin on the ground with no World Cup/Olympics to showcase talent with medals or trophies, the Cricketers as a bunch dont get the plaudits and have little charisma atm-ie No Flintoff/Botham types, same with the Eggcatchers. We haven't looked at F1 yet, but nobody really talking our boys up there, so pass on that one.

I didn't know the Title winning fact about Taylor, but taking into account his longevity(Giggs pretty much got his award for this), and the fact Darts is on TV most weeks and growing in popularity all the time, a small dabble at 40s may not be so far off the mark.

Pretty sure there was a big push for him the year McCoy won it? And I would say Darts even more popular now.

Fair points, but a lot can happen betwen now & SPOTY, the whole summer lies ahead.

Don't forget, we have a World Number One golfer, too, Rory. Oh, wait......
