The thing with Taylor is that the major time he's in the spotlight has been and gone. The year he came second in SPOTY he also hit those two nine darters in the Premier League final. Unless he does something similar this year he's got no chance.

The thing to do here is watch the Premier League and if he does something similar do the SPOTY bet right then, before the price moves. As it stands it cannot be a bet.

Keep posting them Jeff.

I included de walt in the doubles staking plan with Bill Haas a couple of weeks ago and that paid handsome divvys.

I have included him this week too, and think he is currently third.

Never have been on my radar without your post. Ty.

Different De-Walt me thinks

Stand corrected. I hoped I had made the mistake on betty too, alas no Tikay run good here.

TY, saves me cheering the wrong Boere....

I tend to agree. He would need to do something special to win it like back to back 9-darters or doing a clean sweep of all the TV tournaments. Also Premier League aside there are no other major tournaments in the first 6 months of the year so his price isn't going to move much if at all.

Fair enough, but as a "sportsman" still the standout legend in his own much telivised sport, at what price WOULD you consider him a bet?

Having looked at the SPOTY list I think Andy Murray is value at 9/4 (Betfred, 2/1 generally). Obviously if he wins Wimbledon then it's game over, and he's 5/2 for that. Throw in possible US open victory, Wimbledon final, any injury or loss of form from Djokovic leaving the world number one spot up for grabs, plus the general turn in public feeling towards him (people are only now realising he's not a grumpy sod and actually has an engaging personality) and the weak sporting year generally and there are multiple paths to victory.

What price is he to throw 2 nine darters in a match? The darts experts on here could price that up better than me. He then has to fade any big success from anyone more high profile than him elsewhere.

Even that may not be enough.

Nicely swerved Wink

As said in my initial post, I feel Murray is a shoe in too, but if you did want to chuck a few darts(groan) Taylor isnt the complete no hoper you suggest.

Dr Noh, golf. Missed the cut. A misclick saved us £2.50 here. -£2.50.

Tony, I think this is the inconsistency that I was talking about.  IMHO you shouldn't credit Fred with winners that you didn't actually place, but take misclick losers off, it gives a bias on the results.

For it to be consistent either:

If you misclick, whatever bet gets placed is whatever gets placed and Fred gets that.

OR

Whatever bet was meant to be placed is the bet that Fred runs with.

I would suggest the latter, as it is easier to accredit each tipster with their true intent accordingly.

The reason i suggested the bet now was because its before all the other major sporting events. When you actually look at the names above him in the betting there is only an Andy Murray Wimbledon win which is actually a major achievement. When Chris Froome gets 3rd in the TDF its not going to win SPOTY, when England win an unexciting Warneless Ashes Cook isn't going to win, when Farah pulls up half way through the London marathon he isn't going to win.

It doesn't matter what Taylor does between now and the end of the year he has already won a record breaking 16th title that for me stands out. Which is why I think even at 33/1 it is a massively wrong price.

John Higgins is set to play Mark Allen shortly, with Higgins seemingly on fire at the minute with two 5-0 victories in the previous two rounds vs Stuart Bingham and Ding JunHui who are both fantastic players in their own right. Allen, although having made the semi finals isn't playing particularly well, and has admitted that his success so far is more down to his opponents playing badly than himself playing good 'Im very happy to still be in the tournament but to be honest I'm only here because my opponents have not played well'. I think if Allen is to have any chance at all he really needs to step it up, but with John playing amazingly at the minute I think this may be too much if an ask.

Recommend £30 Higgins to beat Mark Allen best priced 7/11 with Pinnacle however 8/13 is still good elsewhere.

Also Matthew Stevens has just completed an upset vs Neil Robertson 6-5 in the other semi final. You can find Higgins to win the tournament outright still available at 7/4 @ PP where I recommend a max bet. into 6/4, still defiantly a bet IMO, interested to hear what others think
