Yep 15-4 ew first 6 seems a decent bet.

When Junior-being facetious as it turned out- suggested backing Tiger just cos he'd win, I was already deciding what price i'd back at, 15-4 is just under the 4-1 I wanted and the place terms are fantastic.

Doubt many firms will be keen to take him on and would expect him to be generally nearer 3-1 come the off.

Even money top 6 seems insane value.

Nothing would make me happier than to see Lee Westwood win the Masters but I honestly couldn't back him with counterfeit at 28/1

This. I would love Westy to win but he just doesn't putt well enough under pressure

I like Adam Scott at 28/1 ew with Paddy Power - they are paying 6 places. He has a good consistent record here and this is one event where your record on that particulr course counts more than ever. You have to be long off the tee, putt well but also be good on that particular course. He is all those things.  He has been known to choke the win at times but really feel 6 places and 28/1 makes him great value.

The Masters is a bit like Cheltenham lite in that it has a pretty good shape for each way betting, certain players do well on the course and there are usually a ton of specials that can be taken advantage of.  I wouldn't really put anyone off betting almost anyone at the front of the market each way 1/4 odds first six.  Personally I would probably swerve  Donald, Rory and Westwood at the prices but the rest of the front of the market seems fairly solid to me.  The market is largely made by the rags who largely are underpriced.  It certainly isn't a tournament where I would be looking for 100/1+ winner.

Decent post mate.

Altho 28-1 shots don't win all that much, just back Tiger blind.

Any interest in Angel Cabrera @ 150-1 eachy-ways?

Bearing in mind he won it in 2009 and was prominent going into the final day last year?

Decent opening round in Humble yesterday innit.

Obv though Tiger to crush. A winner's a winner.

I'd be very surprised if Hills's priority price isnt Tiger to win the masters, so altho you wont be able to get much on and wont be able to take advantage of the generous ew terms. I would imagine they will go at least 5/1 for a short time period.

I seem to remember them going 9/1 Rory last year, when he was a general 11/2 chance and that was before the "priority prices" campaign was launched.

Just my thoughts on Tiger for what it's worth.

Deffo the best player around at the mo
Deffo got an amazing Masters record
Close to intimidating players down the stretch again as he did in his pomp.r.
His putting is superb at the moment
Obv he is the most likely winner.

but

He is around 7/2
He hasn't won a major since 2008( obv tending too many allotments cost him a good few chances as did the serious knee injury)
New swing shape is now not ideal for Augusta, long drivers that draw the ball have the perfect shot shape, esp for the back nine as Bubba proved last year. Tiger's current swing is hitting a fade, obv that doesn't mean he cannot hit a draw here and there but it isn't his stock shot now.
His most recent course form using that swing was a tied 40th last year.
His recent wins have been on courses that suited that he has won on regularly. The same as last year, tho he won at Doral which is a drawers course but the course played nothing like it usually does that week.

Looks likely to go very close but 7/2 ish feels short enough to me tho of the main contenders 2-3 weeks ago Sneds has come back from injury and looked poor. Schwartzel lost his swing down the stretch last week in Malaysia and has putted a bit like Edward Scissorshands again in a few recent rounds and Rory is still struggling.

cheers

what would you shortlist be, with the necessary length for Augusta, correct swing type and good putter?

3 or 4 against the field at the prices are?

I would like to recommend Michigan to beat Kansas tonight in the college basketball The wolverines (Michigan) have lost 7 games this year twice each to Indiana, Wisconsin, and once each to Ohis state, Michigan state and Penn state the only truly iffy loss being to penn state they have had won more comfortably in their 1st 2 games in the tournament whereas the Jayhawks have struggled at times and while they have only lost 5 games all year they were in a considerably weaker conference and have had shocking losses to TCU and Baylor i believe michigan should be favourites (just) in this game and can be backed @23/20 with Hills i suggest £20 or £40 Michigan to beat Kansas tonight at 11pm.

Carlsen took the decision to create an imbalance in the position and it kind of backfired, as Ivanchuk got the better position from it. However, Chucky then swapped some pieces off and that has allowed Carlsen to equalise. In fact, he has a slight edge. Nothing to write home about, but he's certainly not losing now.

Aronian-Kramnik is a fabulous game. It was all level pegging until Aronian made a slight inaccuracy. It is a very complicated position with Kramnik a touch better. Aronian had the chance to force a draw (by a perpetual check, where the king gets checked, then checked, then checked again forever, but is never checkmated) but elected not to take it.

A statement of intent, but he has had to concede more ground in the position to do so. It is a mad position but Kramnik is currently winning. The maxim here is 'The Last Mistake Loses'.

Hi Rich,

Well I did have one win  bet a few weeks ago on Schwartzel  at 25 when he looked to be playing really well after a 7 under round at Doral tho it's prob just neutral EV after the way he putted last week

If  Bubba could draw a course for him to play on it would look like Augusta.

Someone like Jason Day with form on the track, he has rededicated himself  this year after his wife was ill during/after giving birrth last year and that impacted on his game.

Rickie Fowler has only played here twice but it is deffo a course that suits his eye and preferred shot.

Couldn't back Rory in his current form but he has turned around poor form in a flash to win before so will be interesting to see how he goes over the weekend this week ( if he makes the cut) Augusta is perfect for him.

obv will depend on the prices come the week of the event, there will be plenty of 6 places and aggressive pricing around then to make it worth waiting.

cheers
