Always meant to be played today as far as I know. I think we better leave that one as earlier this morning the price was 11/13  and I was waiting for you to finish your Bo Bo's and like you I hate to miss a price. I will cogitate some more over a coffee.

Agreed, thanks. It would be too horrible to get on at 1/2 when 11/13 was available earlier.

Daily Summary, @ 1230, Sunday April 7th

We lost £67 yesterday.

We had a lot at stake - over £400, so it could have been far worse, or better. There are unusual "value" bests associated with an event like the Grand National, & it would be wrong not to try & take advantage, but it was not to be.

By way of consolation, it was a horrendous day for punters, with the Bookies having just about their biggest winning single day/event on record, so a £67 loss on over £400 is not so bad really.

In the red column, we had the EW GN Value bets (-£120), Seabass (-£10), What A Friend (-£20), McCoy to start Fav (-£40, but more than offset by a winner), Cappe Bleu to start fav (£5, ditto). Away from the GN, we lost on Brighton (-£40), & two horses, Apache (-£30) & Hoarding (-£10).

In the blue column, we were saved from a Grand National disaster by the "Seabass to start Favourite", spotted early by bobby1, where we made £110, offset by £45 on the cover bets.

In Rugby Union, despite some extraordinary auditing, we nicked £18, thanks to hector, with a really interesting bet.

In Football, only Brighton let us down for 3 from 3, with Bolton winning (+£40) thanks to Hummuspie, & Doncaster (+£50) which was put up, very early, by Aaron.

Well done all, all things considered, not a bad day.

Pune are capitulating in the first game of the day - 38/5. Samuels out for single figures again. It's a long competition but I think we are struggling with this lot!

Samuels was run out for 3, groan!

In cycling, Nairo Quintana of the Movistar team has just won the Tour of the Basque Country after an impressive performance in the final day's time-trial. One of the strongest climbers in the field, he managed to finish second to the TT king Tony Martin, ahead of cyclists more suited to racing against the clock (ie. Alberto Contador (Saxo-Tinkoff), Richie Porte (Sky)). In so doing, he edged ahead of Porte in the general classification and shortlisted himself as a contender for one of this year's grand tours.

The 2013 Tour de France is one for the pure climbers, which is why Chris Froome (Sky) will start as the favourite with Bradley Wiggins (Sky) supposedly targeting the flatter Giro d'Italia. Contador is close behind in the odds department at a shade under 2/1. After watching Quintana's performances in both the Tour of the Basque Country and the Volta a Catalunya (where he won a mountain stage and finished runner-up to a breakaway in the other), as well as Froome's and Contador's in the Tirreno-Adriatico, I believe that Quintana is the strongest climber out of the three.

There are other great climbers in this year's Tour de France: Vincenzo Nibali (Astana) and Joaquim Rodriguez (Katusha) are both formidable in the mountains. Unfortunately, they do not have great teams providing support, which is important over the 21 stages of the Grand Boucle. Also, they are not noted time-triallists, and this year there will be 2 ITT stages. Richie Porte (Sky) has been very impressive this year as well, but he will have to take a back seat while Froome gets the first bite at the apple.

Quintana has just shown his mettle in a time-trial setting, and is surrounded by an incredible team at Movistar, with climbers like Alejandro Valverde, Benat Intxausti, Jose Herrada and Rui Costa to back him up. The only intangible is whether Movistar decide to give him a chance to lead the team, or whether they will choose to remain loyal to the veteran Valverde. Valverde had a bright start to the season, but a crash in the Volta a Catalunya has set him back a bit. One thing is certain ... if he does not perform in the Pyrenees, Quintana will quickly be given the chance to stamp his authority on the race (such as happened with Valverde and Cobo in the Vuelta last year).

All the above leads me to conclude that Quintana has a decent shot at winning the Tour de France, with a podium place more than likely. The value comes with Satan offering 50/1 on Quintana winning (1/5 odds E/W 1,2,3,), whereas Bet365 have him at 13/1 (with the rest jumping between 20s and 33s). Coral are also offering 40/1, but I'd be inclined to think that even 33/1 is giving away money for one of this year's best riders. It also makes me laugh how Satan don't even bother to spell his name correctly (Nario?). Just waiting to be punished.

I recommend £10 E/W @ 50/1 (Stan James).

Thank you Mr Wet Suit, welcome to blonde, & Fred.

Have you been lurking? Good to see you on board, where does that alias come from? Tell us something about yourself, its good to know something about our regulars.

We actually have a Cycling Thread run by a chap called Tonji, it is here.....

I have no idea if that bet is good, but we'll welcome you aboard by getting on, though Stan James is off-limits I'm afraid. As it happens, Stan James now go 16/1, (!), & the best prices available are 33/1 in several spots, so we have taken that.

We have £10 EW @ 33/1 (quarter odds 1-2-3) with Wm Hill, Nairo Quintana to win the Tour de France bike race thingie.

Chelsea v Sunderland

Chelsea 4/6 to win 1st half.

I think Chelsea will come out of the blocks early and try to get that early goal to settle nerves playing against a team with a new manager. They'll have one eye on spurs Everton game which will be at half time by the time they kick off.

Suggest £60 Chelsea win 1st half @ 4/6 with WH

Got one more for Fred but no time to explain as my battery is about to die on my phone!!

Hannover 96 most corners /FT is 23/20.

They are playing Stuttgart at home.

Suggesting £40 stake for Fred. Sorry can't provide explanation, no time!

Teams with a new manager tend to keep things very compact in the first game so I'm not sure there is much value in that price to be honest. I think Chelsea win the game but I wouldn't be surprised to see it 0-0 at half time.
